Nev. voters to consider legalizing marijuana
Measure to allow 1-ounce sales at licensed stores
By Sandra Chereb, Associated Press | October 18, 2006
RENO -- Organizers of a Nevada ballot measure hope that voters in a state where almost everything goes will go a step further and legalize marijuana.
If it passes Nov. 7, Nevada will be the first state to allow adults to possess up to an ounce of marijuana that they could buy at government-regulated shops.
The Committee to Regulate and Control Marijuana, which has pushed medical marijuana and decriminalization laws around the country, thinks Nevada -- with its embrace of certain vices and its streak of Western independence -- is a perfect venue. |

I'm likely moving to the US next summer. Nevada is now near the top of the list! |

| Except the DEA will still be allowed to arrest you, just look at all the medical growers in California who are in jail or hiding out in British Columbia. Its the right move but until the federal goverment dismantles the DEA and the laws it operates under, innocent Americans will continue to be attacked. |

I do like the state of Nevada as well.. but I'm sure there are other states with some progressive laws.
Unless its changed, Alaska always had it legal that you could grow it for personal use.
My home state of Michigan has the famous Hash Bash every year.. smoking and listening to live bands in the streets. The fines have always been something like $10 for smoking it public (as long as you don't have massive amounts with the intention to sell). Making it essentially legal to smoke.
I'm sure there are other states.. just never researched every state on that.
By the way.. how'd the State of Nevada vote on that anyways? |

I hope the US legalizes maryjuana and hashish. Tobacco and alcohol are much worse for people, but maryjuana is illegal simply becuase it was not socially acceptable from the get go like the way alcohol and tobacco was. Hell, the Chinese immigrant workers were kicked out of America in the late 1880's for opium use. Why? Opium use was not socially accepted amongst European immigrants, but thier service in the building the railroad network in the great West was under appreciated. Capitalististic as can be.
I sure wish the rest of the world was like Dutchland (Holland). I love Amsterdam, but there is no living for me to make there, not much for foreigners other than a good time, as long as you have money.
Oh, all the places I want to go live are... off limits due to economics and immigration laws, unless you possess big money and a business plan to present. If you have E.U. citizenship, a whole lot is open to you vs. being non E.U. citizen. Simple as that if you do not have big money. |
