Hello,
I'm hoping to be moving next week to new accommodation. I will still have the same employer, and be in the same city, just in a completely different area.
I guess I need to inform Immigration, how do I go about doing so? Must I make a personal visit with/without co-teacher, or will a ph/fax from the school suffice?
Will I need to take along passport photos to get a new alien card?

Just trying to cover all bases as I'm not sure of the process, and I don't think my school will have thought about it. Any info appreciated,
thanks.

If I remember correctly, you just have to go to Immigration with your ARC so they can write down your new address behind it and put it into their system.

Also, don't waste too much time letting them know. I don't remember how long you have, but you do have a deadline after which there is a fine for not telling Immigration of your new address quickly enough.

You're supposed to do it within a couple weeks but no one gets too bent out of shape if you're a bit late.

You can go to the immigration office or to your local gu-office or in smaller cities to city hall. Fill out a form indicating your new address & they make a notation on the back of your current ARC. Its easy & free.

I believe you have to go within 10 - 15 days if you don't want to pay a penalty.

This makes me wonder. Can someone do this at the immigration office at COEX, or would they have to go VERY VERY far on the purple line to the main Seoul immigration office? I have heard rumors that you can do it at COEX, but nothing solid.

Thanks for the replies.

I went to Immigration this morning, and it was very quick and easy, all done in less than ten minutes. Just had to show my passport, fill in a form with my new details, and then the Immigration officer wrote my new address on the back of my ARC, and covered it with tape (which made me think I could have done that myself Wink ).

Only they put it in their computer system, too.

Hahahaha...yeah, I just moved too. My old address wasn't even on the back of my ARC card, so I probably could have gotten away with not bothering to go to immi at all. It's doubtful I'm going to be picked up for something anyway.

Just to clarify about addresses on an ARC - Is it the employer's business address on the front and your apartment address on the back?

It should be your residential address on the card. The only time an employer should be noted on the card is when you have MORE THAN ONE employer.

I really wouldn't worry about paying a fine. I changed my address at immigration last month, 5.5 months after moving and they didn't say anything about paying a fine.
