Such is your luxurious distance from reality that you relate to the world through boys adventure novels and movies.
Just imagine for a moment that you live in a country without starbucks or laptops. Your society is divided by language and ethnicity and has been for centuries. You have a long history over centuries of fighting the other. War errupts. Your survival depends on killing those who would kill you. |

Again, an amazingly Christian idea. It might be one thing to have possible killers under detention. It's another thing to march teenagers out to a field and shoot them all in the back while filming it and laughing. I would expect the Christian in you to decry such atrocities regardless of the circumstances. Please, rapier, you can drop the sockish claim you're a Christian. |

As an american arent you ashamed your country knowingly incinerated millions of innocent women and children at the touch of a button? Why don't you try your war criminals? What about Vietnam? The atrocities you committed there were terrible. Carpet bombing civilians? napalm? Send those monsters to the hague.
You aren't showing very American values right now. I don't want to ever become an american because all americans think like you. I'm going to tell everyone how bad Americans are. |

That's not really the issue, is it. The issue is I would hope that someone who claims to emulate the life of Christ, the first words out of his mouth about the cold blooded killing of a group of teenage boys and young men under detention (hence no threat and I'm pretty sure your bible would argue they deserve some kind of Christian charity) by men who claim to be Christians, would be shock, horror, disapproval, scriptural quotes, and some solace in that justice has been served. Not a plea for perspective. Christians should try harder and ask those who pray to the same god and savior to try harder.
Are you ashamed, rapier, an atheist is a better Christian than you and has to instruct you? |

You're an american and you want other countries to feel ashamed and listen to your pampered self-important imperialistic bile?
You harp on about a war crimes trial concerning 5 people in a small country thousands of miles away. A country with centuries of bitter ethnic conflict. Does it make you feel civilised?
"Oh. I'm an American, that would never happen here. Its nice to see the uncivilised countries shaping up. Maybe they could be like us one day".
Never mind 5 killings in Serbia (of enemy combatants during wartime no less!!!), lets focus for a moment on the thousands of innocent black slaves you americans killed as you tore them away and transported them from Africa. Or maybe the millions of native Americans you snuffed out over the centuries in what was the worlds biggest genocide? Or maybe the greatest a swiftest single act of mass mureder yet: incinerating millions of babies and mothers in Hiroshima.
You are An American. Your nation is probably the most guilty on earth.
You will notice i did not judge the Serbians mentioned in the original news artical. Its not for me to judge. You however have a smug western arrogance that sees fit to pass judgement on what goes on in countries that are no convcern of yours. Having bombed 60 different nations in the past century, I'd look to your own conscience first.
"Judge not lest you be judged". |

Oh, rapier. This is why we atheists can't really take you Christians seriously. You're so not. Keep witnessing for your faith. |

You lost the argument so you relentlessly try to side track?
Instead of judging others, try to put yourself in their position first. Although its hard to do when you're from a pampered existence in a country lacking any serious problems.
Commenting on things in far away nations about which you have no clue, is the arrogant pastime of the west. |

and an arrogant pastime of yourself......
I remember using a laptop in a cafe near the Danube, long before they were ever in use in America.......and the coffee and cafe was superb! I think Starbucks got their idea from the "cro magnum Serbs...."
Junior, I'd recommend a book recommended to me so thankfully from my beloved Serbian muse Snezenka, "Bridge over the river Drina"by Ivo Andric . You might also learn some subtlety in regards to the region and relationships between ethnic groups there... then comment as you wish after reading.
Yes, centuries old culture but not centuries oooooooooold.

Ddeubel I do hope you're not another predictable western media victim as naiive as mindmetoo.
Clinton is the war criminal- a cynical mass murderer of thousands and the cause of the biggest humanitarian catastrophe Europe has seen since WW2. I really think the US should have the strength to send him to the Hague.
"The longer the bombing went on, the more brazenly NATO ignored the limits it had initially imposed on its targets in order to limit civilian casualties. In the final weeks of the 78-day war, all that mattered was finding new targets so that NATO spokesmen could continue their daily bragging about a record number of sorties flown and record number of bombs dropped. According to Human Rights Watch, at least 500 civilians were killed by NATO bombing; the Yugoslavian government claimed that 2,000 civilians were killed. NATO repeatedly dropped cluster bombs into marketplaces, hospitals, and other civilian areas.
http://www.fff.org/freedom/0101e.asp
While Clinton and Blair say the motive for the bombing is to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, the bombing has actually created the greatest humanitarian catastrophe since the end of World War II the mass exodus of ethnic Albanians from the Province of Kosovo.
http://www.ianpaisley.org/article.asp?ArtKey=ethnic
Allied Farce:A Wartime Diary.
Rugova not only called for a halt to the bombing, but also denounced U.S.NATO intervention.
http://www.antiwar.com/justin/diaries/diary7.html
The racist and condescending attitudes to Serbs epitomised by Goldhagen's remarks are the other side of 'humanitarian' intervention by Western imperialism, which needs its bombing to be justified in terms of dealing with people who are 'legally and morally incompetent'. But the actions of the Serbs in voting against Milosevic, in striking and demonstrating against the rigged results, and then in finally staging a revolutionary overthrow of the regime vindicates them from such attacks.
The generally worsening situation and bitterness among ordinary people was heightened by a number of explosive questions. The first was hatred of the West and NATO for their intervention in ethnically cleansing the Krajina of Serbs in 1995, and then for their bombing four years later. The common sentiment in Serbia is anti-imperialist, and the election was won by Kostunica on the basis that he was against NATO, that he wanted the US to be indicted at The International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague.
