I love the spin on this one. Laughing

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Tours of duty for members of the U.S. Army will be extended from 12 months to 15 months effective immediately, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Wednesday.

"What we're trying to do here is provide some long-term predictability to our soldiers and their families," Gates told reporters at the Pentagon.

Boo-hoo. Most soldiers are republicans and voted for Bush. They are getting their payback now.

And once they're dead they will really have some of that long term predictability they are craving.

While I don't agree with the Bush administration on Iraq I don't feel it's quite fair to be calling the men and women in the military "suckers". I would imagine quite a few of them were enlisted long before Bush came around and are just doing their duty. From articles I have read, the average rank and file are split pretty much down the middle, in regards to being in Iraq.

If possible can we limit commentary to the "spin" and avoid attacking or reveling in the plight of the common soldier who has just as little say in the matter as you or I?

I would think that some posters would have the decency to show more sympathy for those doing a dangerous job many may not want to do and less about showing your lack of feelings for others.

Their job just got harder, do you have to gloat over that. Its beneath you posters I would feel to gloat over others misery.

Agreed. Your thread was just unlucky enough to have its first three responses come from two trolls and a moron (not necessarily in that particular order).

I hope you idiots with the mentality of a child never need the protection of your armed forces because if you do I hope they stick their bayonets into your liver and watch you die.

Octavius, delight us with your cheerleading for the IED and EFP lobbing insurgents.

Nobody is so stupid as to actually cheer on American deaths. You must be a troll.

I'm not cheering on American deaths you dolt. The whole article is trying to convince American service personel that extending their stay in Iraq will bring their familiy stability, that's like saying famine is great for weight loss.

Sorry, I got you confused with another poster of the same name who uses the same avatar. I could've sworn I saw him say something along the lines of 'Go insurgency!' in another thread. Would you like me to hunt it down?

Oh yes on another thread I stated clearly that I am cheering for the Iraqi rebels, they have every right to kill Americans. That doesn't change the fact that the spin on the above article is crazy and you know it. But its just typical Bush Crime Family propangda that people like you swallow up and follow. Goose step forward my little storm trooper!
