Ottawa 6-Pens 3....the game was over early in the 3rd and Crosby had two shots on net at the end of two periods. Philips and Volchenov did their job...it is only 1 game, but we got their starting goalie pulled and they did nothing.
thoughts?

Rookies don't usually do so well in the playoffs.

Maybe i am being typical Sens fan, but we have had so many good teams over the years. Alot of people picked the Pens to come in and take it to us, but Ottawa held strong and did what they had to do in this game. Don't get me wrong for a second... i am knocking on wood! Even Alfie wanted to have a go....looking forward to game 2, 4am here Sunday morning!

Yes your right, it was just one game...but there are only at most 7, and winning the first sets a tone for what to expect! STarting goalie got ran out of nets, and their best player did nothing till the 3rd...what are you, a Leafs fan!? Laughing

How many times have we seen a team win game 1 and lose the series? Game one is important but it's not that important. But, I do think Ottawa will probably take the Pens in 4 or 5 based on the inexpericne of the Pens. Another 1 or 2 playoffs later, the Pens will be a force, unless they become another choking Ottawa.

Go Flames!!!

Well, Ottawa isn't exactly "clutch," so don't get too far ahead of yourself.

edit: plus, Crosby had a goal, so it's not like he was completely invisible.

What I absolutely love about the playoffs are those players you don't notice in the regular season that seem to score those big goals in the playoffs.

Martin Gelinas has scored like 8 series winning goals in his career. I think it was Richard Park that score the winners in games 6 and 7, five or so years back to knock off the favored Canucks. And that pesky Esa in Edmonton that loved yapped and loved scoring his few huge goals.

I like the Sens chances this year. Remember the Red Wings, the Oilers, the Penguins all went through painful losses in the playoffs but eventually won the Cup. The Sens have lots of playoff loss experience.

I think the key is goaltending, if Emery can hold up or Gerber can do well if needed, they should go a long way. Spezza, Heatly, Alfredson, Fischer, Comrie playing well, they're going to be tough to beat. Wish I was there!
