I've recently discovered the joys of setting my watch a minute or so slow. When you have those horrid classes that drag on... ode to joy... they finish a minute or two early.

I really need to go back to my career...

This works well in a public school where you are expected to go a few minutes late. Very Happy

We have a clock on the wall- so that wouldnt really work. Although, once, I did let a class out 10 mintues before the scheduled time- I looked at the wrong day on the schedule Embarassed

The Korean teacher looked at the clock funny- then at his own wristwatch- but he took the kids away without makeing a scene- Buddah love him. Razz

Korean can be good. Building relationships with other teachers is so important. Be nice, be kind, and they'll often reciprocate. Make an effort.

I'm approaching my fourth year and, indeed, much of the thrill is gone. I always said when I no longer find it cute when a student shows up in his/her TKD outfit that it's time to pack it in. I think I've reached that. There are a few on the job joys, but they're getting a bit thin on the ground.

Although recently it's occurred to me how darn cute really ugly, nerdy 10-year-old Korean girls are. It's like watching a Blind Melon video.

I do really like my coworkers. I dare say they really like me. Yes, if you treat them with respect and humility, it will come back to you.

When I used to teach the fetus-level, I would sometimes take the clock of the wall, 'test' them on time by manipulating the hands around, then put it back to the 'correct' time.

"CLASS FINISH-EE!"

I have my handphone and Apple both set 10 minutes fast, so I can be on time. I'm very punctual, but I am trying not to rush myself so much. Doing this gives me a required 10 minutes to photocopy and an opportunity for a casual coffee in the office before class begins.

I always overprepare. It's much better thinking that you "only" have 10 minutes left and you better hurry up or you won't finish your lesson rather than thinking you have 10minutes left and what are you going to do to fill the time.
