PostPosted: Wed Apr 11, 2007 10:41 am    Post subject: University Rankings List? Reply with quote

I've been looking for a list that ranks all of the universities in South Korea.

I did a keyword search here and found a bunch of stuff, but not exactly that. (There were some links posted to lists of top universities, but I'm looking for a comprehensive list. I found some rankings lists of world universities, but they don't comprehensively list the Korean uni's. I did find a couple links posted for comprehensive rankings, but the lists were all in Korean characters, which I can't read. I've also found some lists of top Korean uni's on google, but no comprehensive rankings lists.)

I've found a list containing all the uni's in South Korea, but it doesn't rank them. I'm looking for a list that ranks them numerically from #1 to #last. Anyone know of one?

Thx .... mep

I'm starting to think that you don't really have a PhD.

Zappadelta ... I don't really see the need or the purpose for your impolite comment. At least you could justify it. And by the way, speaking of competence, what is a "pdD?" Smile

Thanks .... Mep

I don't know what you're talking about.
No, I tried to help you at first, but you keep asking the same questions over and over. Just seems like someone with a phD should be an expert at searching and researching. It's just as simple as going to Google and typing it in.

I'm talking about insults. If you don't want to help me, why not just choose not to respond to my question?

--I have never asked this question before

--In my OP I explained that when I did a search on google I came up with lists of top universities in South Korea or comprehensive lists that weren't ranked, but no comprehensive ranked list. If there is a different combination of keywords that works that I'm not aware of, I'm terribly and profoundly sorry.

Thanks a lot, and Peace .... Mep

Here's a good one, based on Web popularity.

Uh .... "web popularity" isn't exactly official rankings.

"It's just as simple as going to google and typing it in," right?

Thanks all the same though ..... Mep

Ingenious repartee. Isn't there some rule against posting blatant insults and inflammatory language in these forums?

My conclusion: you're both as bad as each other.

After 12 years, Yonsei overtaken by Korea U.

September 25, 2006
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology regained its top slot in the JoongAng Ilbos ranking of Koreas universities after four years of being runner-up to the Pohang University of Science and Technology.
Seoul National University, which had been ranked third since 1994, when the newspaper started its ranking of higher-education institutions, was ranked second along with the Pohang technology school. Korea University was ranked fourth, followed by Yonsei University at No. 5. Yonsei had been ranked ahead of its rival private university, Korea University, since the annual surveys began in 1994.
A survey by the newspaper looked at 122 four-year universities, assessing educational environment and financing, reputation, research by faculty members, improvement over the past year and globalization measures.
That globalization ranking was a new assessment factor this year; it includes such data as the number of foreign instructors and students and the number of classes conducted in English.
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon topped the globalization category, followed by Korea University. Their rankings in that category boosted their overall standing.
At Korea University, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Handong Global University, Yonsei University and 11 other universities, more than 5 percent of classes were taught in English. At Sogang University, Korea University, Kwangwoon University, Kyung Hee University and Yonsei University, foreign students accounted for more than 3 percent of the student body.
Korea Universitys ranking in educational environment and financing also rose strongly to 14th from 21st last year. The university increased the amount of scholarship funds per student to 731,350 won ($774) from 569,000 won in 2005.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe instead of "ranking", try words like "university assessment" or "survey." Good luck.

Also, the top ten are listed here-
