Sanbon is not going to be much for you compared to Bundang, as far as amenities, restaurants, and nightlife. On the other hand, Sanbon will likely have a more tighter expat group as opposed to Bundang.
We recently updated those two city articles:

| Sanbon is a beautiful area that doesn't seem too busy. There are lots of little mountains around it. |

Sanbon is a more rural area than Bundang. You're basically moving further south of Seoul and its satellite cities.
Beomgye Station(Sanbon area, roughly)and Seohyun Station(middle of Bundang) are still close-ish.About half an hour by express bus.
Seohyun to Gangnam Station is another 30 minutes by express bus.
Sanbon pros/cons(could be taken as either)-mountains,yep.Greener,less variety, larger housing perhaps?Generally cheaper.
Bundang pros/cons-very high housing deposits,so,probably small housing.Depends on what your school will spring for.Not Seoul-fresher air, parks.Seoul prices.Variety(but, then that's "Korean Variety",which may not be so varied. |

Sanbon is a nice little place nestled between green mountains. The central area is busy and the place has pretty much everything you need locally. The expat scene is not tight. For some reason there is a large rift between public school and hagwon teachers...and each tend to stick to their own kind.
Sanbon is much closer to areas like Hongdae, Shinchon, Yongsan, Itaewon then Bundang. On average it takes me between 30 and 40 minutes into Hongdae. Gangnam is about the same via subway.
Sanbon is also nestled right next to Anyang and Anyang is pretty rad.
Bundang is richer and bigger...but it's generally more of the same...just repeated into redundancy. |

That's important too. Also, things seem to get more expensive the closer I get to Bundang.
And crazy_arcade, 30 to 40 minutes to get in to Hongdae? I live in Guro and it takes me that long. When I was in northern Suwon, it took me an hour in total, and I didn't have to transfer at Geumjeong. |

| Sure, if the transfers go smoothly. It can longer if you end up waiting at Geumjeong. It's never taken me more than an hour and I've been there in 30 minutes before. The average is about 40 minutes for me. |

| Bundang is the yuppiest of Seoul's suburbs, has a decent amount of foreign stuff and nothing especially wrong with it besides the yuppieness and higher prices than other places. |
