Most of the sexual experiences took place at their homes or friends' homes.
A survey conducted by the Korean Health Teachers Association for Healthy Society and the Korean Teachers and Education Workers' Union showed 47.1 percent of students have seen porn photos or video footage.
Some 1,060 elementary, middle and high school students nationwide took part in the survey.
When asked about the first time they saw such photos, 6.4 percent answered between the first and third grades of elementary school, while 35.4 percent said between fourth and sixth grades, 49.1 percent, during middle school, and 9.1 percent, during high school.
More than 43 percent said they saw the pictures and videos at their friends' houses, followed by 39.6 percent at their own homes, 3.3 percent at Internet cafes, and 1 percent at their relatives' homes.
Among elementary school children, 2.5 percent had sexual experiences, while 2.4 percent of middle school students and 4 percent of high school students have had sexual intercourse.
It was also homes where they had sex _ 25.1 percent at friends' homes, 18.4 percent at their own homes, 5.3 percent in motels or hotels, and 3.7 percent in video rooms.
About 4 percent also said they had been in situations during the last three years involving sexual harassment or sexual assault but they could not talk about it openly.
``Many students have sex at homes, either their own or their friends with a growing number of parents working together and leaving the house empty. The survey showed the nation needs to come up with proper sex education for teenagers,'' a member of the association said.
About 15 percent of the students have also smoked, while 42.9 percent have drunk alcohol. Many of them started drinking and smoking when they were in middle schools.
``It indicates health education including drinking and smoking should be provided intensively for the higher grades in elementary and middle schools,'' she said. |

I mean the figure of 2.5% is a bit disturbing. I suspect the % amongst 11-12 year olds in the west would be at least that or higher. There's no need to get so pissy about unrelated matters over the fact that America made an incredibly stupid mistake, is going to lose a war, and is sending men off to fight and die for nothing.
