I have a 4 day weekend coming up in the first week of May. I was thinking of riding down to Mokpo. I'm a little north of Gumi, so it would be a nice ride.
Anyways, are there any Daves people who would be interested in happy hour, dinner and drinks on that Saturday? It would be nice to meet up with good people.
PM if you're not comfortable about posting your location.

Thanks.

I've been wanting to visit Mokpo for a long while. I'm up for a shindig there, if that's what you're looking for.

I'd be up for Busan...but I haven't been anywhere else, so let me know if you go to Mokpo, as I have been intending to check it out. I'm in Suncheon, in Jeollanamdo, and typically spend my Saturdays anywhere but.

I did a little wiki-looking at Mokpo. Center of organized crime in Korea? The Wiki article was interesting. Talked about how Mokpo was one of the largest cities in Korea until the '70's, but politics led to a population decline.
I'm guessing I would get into Mokpo sometime Saturday morning. I'll be chucking my bicycle on the bus to go back on Sunday. It's almost 400 klicks back to my city and I won't have time to ride it. Plus hopefully I'll too hungover to ride Very Happy .

That said, this is still in the planning stage.

That distance, for an old git like me, is near the outside of my 2 1/2 day range. I have a riding partner who may also ne able to make the trip, but he wouldn't be available to ride until either Thursday night or Friday morning. (I'm looking to get a 3 or 4 hour start on Wednesday after school.) My partner is REALLY and old git, just turned 56, but 6 or 7 years ago, rode his bicycle from New York to Washington State. Amazing. Puts me to shame.

He should know this week whether he is available or not. If he is, I will have to change the destination to Masan or Busan and save Mokpo or thereabouts for the summer vacation. If that happens, I will start a new thread, and see if we can pick up other interested riders along the way.

In my schools infinite wisdom, I apparently now have Thursday OFF, but I have to be IN school on Friday. I have no classes either day. Why out of school on Thursday and in on Friday? I have no idea.

I will try to work some diplomacy. The word came from the vice-principal and I've spent the last couple of weekends getting his poetry ready for publication. He should have waited until I had returned it cause I think I've misplaced it all of a sudden. Wink
