I have been in Korea for 3 weeks. I joined a gym next door to my school and decided to buy 3 months membership because they gave me a discount and it would have been more than a month before my first paycheque. Since then, they were closed the week before last for 3 or 4 days, and have been closed for the last week due to a strike. Not only do they have my money, but my MP3 player and shoes are there in my locker. It's the first month and I can ill afford to pay for another gym while I wait for them to reopen god-knows-when. There is a number posted up on who to call but no one ever answers. Any suggestions on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated. At this point I would prefer to get my money back, at least part of it, and go with another gym, considering they have been closed twice already since I got here! Help!

It's tough to get money back from gyms. I'd get a Korean speaking friend or your boss to speak on your behalf. The gym would want to please them, to avoid getting a bad rep. A foreigner who can't speak Korean, who are they going to tell?
