I really would like to have an art exhibition at an art gallery of my paintings. However I have been told stories of other foreigners putting on plays and getting deported. Does anyone have any experience with this. Would really appreciate any knowledge that anyone may have.

Don't do any satirical paintings of immigration officers, for starters. |

Try reposting in the general forum where you will get more traffic that may be able to give you some ideas. |

Some years ago a friend was teaching here and brought her artist-husband with her. He could hold a show and take orders, but not actually sell any work until he had left Korea.
Check with immigration. If you had a plan to not make money, there should be a way to do it. |

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that it may not be a problem if nothing was sold. I will check with immigration. |

Wow. Those Korean Immigration cops are certainly protecting the public. Imagine the horror if someone actually sold art or jewely.
I love Korean Immigration. They are always looking out for the best interest of the public.
..Of course, I wonder how many Russian, Filopino, Thai prostitutes get in trouble for their visa violations?
Korean immigration ought to spend more time clearing out the trash rather than enforcing the easy catches. I have a similar issue occassionally with my DJ work. |

keep it small. Don't poke fun at Koreans...at all. There ya go, ignore all these wussies talking about deportation for things like volunteering, giving shows, etc. |

Why not just contact Ssamzie or another group and see how you can do it legally? |

Oh, I see. Definition aside, the link goes to a page about how to engage in activities beyond your visa status. |

If you DO have satirical paintings of immi officers, makes sure there are no undercover cops at your show.
A "friend" of mine had a show at the Busan Met. City Hall a few years ago. I THINK he is married to a Korean though so I can't say you two are definitely in the same boat. |
