I always thought it was unhealthy and perverse that in such cases it was always the killer(s) that people remembered and got all the attention. I do it myself, and I'm not sure why.
Anyway, here's an article about some other people who should be remembered as well.

They did this with all the 9/11 victims. Worthy? Yes, something any sane society should do - give some dignity to those who had little say in their deaths.
Will they be remembered "en large"? NO. It is a sad testament to ourselves that we will forever remain fascinated not by those who end up in the vice grips of fate but those who reach beyond fate and somehow seem to escape, "the ghost in the machine". We are captivated by transcending our destiny, whether it be good or bad. I wish it was just in those cases of good.
