Kucinich to file impeachment
Quote: |
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney. |

In this case...?
Good. Wish W. Bush had dismissed Cheney when he dismissed Rumsfeld. And I wish he had indeed dismissed them both long ago.
However...

But Kucinich shouldn't hold his breath on getting anywhere with his impeachment plan. "We'll see a Kucinich Administration before we'll see a Cheney impeachment," quipped one Democratic aide. |
Could not agree more with this assessment. |

An impeachment proceeding, quashed by politics rather than by consideration of the rule of law, will have an effect and illuminate significantly which road the U.S. is currently on.
If quashed, it will show the U.S. is in a decline beyond what is already revealed by the Bush Cabal. It will be a strong indication it is more systemic, more imbedded in the whole of the society. However, if there is a large enough public outcry, it could have a similar effect to the scenario below.
If allowed to go forth and it fails, there will be a further chance to reclaim a lost ideals and dreams by replacing the current Congress and President with people who are patriots as determined by their adherence to the Rule of Law via the Constitution and the basic values around which it was framed.
Either way, it has value. Whether it will succeed or not is a lowest common denominator litmus test, at best. It is an issue courageous Americans won't consider. |
