What do you do on those days where you have no classes to teach but the school makes you come in anyways. I have that tomorrow, when all the kids are taking their midterms. All English classes got canceled.
I was thinking about bringing my nintendo DS and a few DVD's. Maybe watch a movie or 2 with the Korean English teachers. Or bring my guitar with me to school and practice. Might sneak out for an hour or 2 and run some errands.
What do you do when you know there's no classes to teach but you have to come to work anyways?
Sucks that its a Friday though. I wish they would just give me the day off so I can have a 3 day weekend. |

We have mid-terms next week (all day m/t and wed morning)... my plan is as follows:
Sunday night, get rat-arsed
Monday, nurse hangover. In the afternoon I am going to some place with the english department and then we are going to eat and drink afterwards. I will drink a LOT on monday night
Tuesday, nurse hangover and plan a few classes
Wednesday, finish lesson plans and teach a few classes in the afternoon.

Organize books, alpha-betize your flashcards, sharpen pencils, do lesson plans for the next 2 weeks. |

I know it's too late for the OP, but a lot of schools let you take a
"culture day" which is basically a free day off. I am going to take one on Monday and actually try and do something cultural. |

You should try calling in sick. You have sick days in public school right? |

Ooo, nice. I have a Thursday-Friday coming up. Thursday all the kids are on school trip, so the school is closed, but friday the 3rd year boys are back. I don't have any classes, but they want me in anyways....
Culture day.....lol....I'll try that. |

Sick days seem like the best option for this. |

Say you want to go visit some palaces and temples in Seoul. If you are near Seoul then say you wanna take a trip to Busan over the weekend to sightsee. If you live near Busan, say you wanna go to Ganghwa or to Suwon to sightsee. You live near Daejon then say you wanna go to Seorak Mountain.
At least make it far enough away so that you can justify taking the "cultural day off" on a friday. |

I've had days like that. I just surfed the net, did some emails, posted some stupid messages on Daves, and brought with me a book to read. Lately my co-teacher has been really nice to me so he lets me go home sometimes without telling anybody. Try to get along with your co-teacher. |

My school's letting me take the 3 days off when the kids have midterms. Woooo! At first they said I'd have to take it out of my vacation days, but then the vice principal checked it out, and it seems they can give me extra vacation days as "prizes" for doing a good job. It's in the rules for public schools in Kyunggi province. Woo! I'm going on vacation.
Otherwise, I end up just sitting around and surfing the internet all freaking day long. |
