Last week, someone posted information about this new microbrewery in Myongdong:

Quote:
LeBassus Myongdong Tel.: 3783-4468

[EDIT: These directions are awful....see my later post in this thread for accurate information.]
Take exit 3 and follow the signs underground. Or It is on the other end of the main shopping drag away from Migliores. when you get to the end of the street turn left walk to the back street that runs parallel and look down the huge blue sign is at shoulder height as the bar is in the basement.

Has anyone been to this microbrewery? Is it any good? Do they serve food, and if so, how are their prices? Are these good directions/is it easy to find?

Peace

Looks like the answer is "NO". I have been curious about that place too. Please try it out and get back to us.

The Platinum Brewery in Gagnam is good.

Agreed. Castle Praha is better if simply want beer and for a better price. 4,500 for 450ml. Platinum's beer is better, but more expensive (7,000 a glass) or you have to get the buffet.

The buffet makes Platinum worth it.

I'll probably check out LeBassus tonight and shall dutifully report my findings & pics here tomorrow.

I'm curious too, so I started a page:
http://wiki.galbijim.com/LeBassus

Everybody please take pictures and let them be used under a GFDL license and write lots of stuff. Or we'll be doomed to scrounging for info on threads every time.

Is the spelling right? How come lebassus 명동 turns up nothing under a Google search?

See, nothing.

I went to De Bassus last night. The person who posted the directions had their head up their ass, so here are proper directions:

Easiest: Go to Euljiro 1 ga Station on Line 2. Exit number 6 and walk straight. You'll pass a Starbucks on the left. Keep walking and you will reach a tourist information booth. Across the street (walking straight) is an underground shopping entrance. Look to the left of that and you'll see the big blue De Bassus sign. Go downstairs and start drinking.

From Myongdong Station: Exit number 7. Walk down the main strip with Migliore on your left. Youll walk a few blocks. You go to the end of the MAIN strip, but the road keeps going straight. (When you are walking down the main strip, you will get to an intersection with a restaurant and a Shinhan bank sign on the building on the far right corner.) On your far left corner, youll see a tourist information map. Go left here. As you walk, youll pass a Krispy Kreme on your right and a Kraze Burger on your left. Keep walking and youll get to large main road. Youll see a tourist information booth on the right. Youll see an underground shopping entrance on your left. Look to the left of that shopping entrance. Youll see the blue De Bassus sign. Go downstairs and start drinking.

De Bassus drinks are a good price for being microbrew in a large downtown shopping district. The 3 microbrews are a dark Dunkles, a golden opaque Helles and an amber Weizen. The Dunkels is very smooth for a dark beer. The Helles was ok, but needs more flavor and the Weizen is a full-flavored, yeasty weizen. They also serve Cass for those of you without *beep* or ovaries.

Prices:
300cc: 4,000
500cc: 6,000
Container (or growler):
2,000cc: 22,000
5,000cc: 55,000
(I didnt see anyone drinking from a Container, but the menu picture shows it to be a capped growler. I didnt ask if these could be taken to-go for a deposit.)

Tower (approx. 1.5 meter tower of beer with a tap):
3,000cc: 33,000
5,000cc: 55,000

Other drinks:
Wine: 50,000-60,000
Whisky: 70,000-210,000
Coffee and tea drinks: 3,000-4,000
Coke and Cider: 3,000
Welchs, Mountain Dew and Juice: 4, 000

Food:
Basic plates: 6,500-10,000 with a 15,000 set
Salads: 12,000-16,000
Specialty, Fusion and World food: 13,000-38,000

I recommend the place, but only drank the beer and can't report on the food quality. Sorry, no pics available, but I'll take a camera next time.
