OK... (This is actually for laughs for those of you in decent jobs cuz this one has to suck)
So I usually do nothing but complain about my job in the job discussion forum and this is another one of those, but i'm starting to wonder....
first off here was the start of my complaining for back ground....

Now, So far this week, we've had a bus driver just decide he wasn't going to show up anymore, and 2 k teachers give their notice. Both K teachers have openly told me that they think our director is "the devil" and she treats them "like slaves" Currently we have a total of 3 K teachers and 2 english teachers and the third K teacher was so angry yesterday because the director came into her class and told her she didn't know how to teach, in front of the children. After class she was telling me this but when the director would walk by she would shut her mouth and would almost start shaking. They are all so terrified of her.
oh yeah and not to mention I taught 11 different classes yesterday, as in 11 different lesson plans.
And people wonder why I drink. |

Leave. Teaching in Korea can be so much better than this. |

Why anyone would work at a hagwon is beyond me.
One lesson plan can last for two weeks in a PS.

Just leave. Or do you like the attention. Oh woe is me...I'm a martyr.
You keep teaching and saying yes...it's your own damn fault. Sorry, but ti's true. |

are you by any chance at ECC in Uijeongbu? If so leave, if not, it sounds just as shitty so leave. I was driven to a 2 bottle a night soju habit to deal with the nonsense of my first and only haggie job here, staying is NOT worth it.... |

first..no I don't work at ECC
second...I stay cuz I'm stuck here.. I did sign a contract, I'm almost certain she won't give me a LoR (she's the devil remember)
Also, while I think my situation sucks I have actually gotten in to a routine. I'm beginning to think the kids and other teachers are suffering more than I am. Thanks to the information I have gleaned from this forum I have kinda taken a Lase Faire (sp?) attitude While I teach 11 classes I will not spend hours upon hours of my own free time prepping them, so the kids suffer when they end up doing nothing but the child U book. Which is what the director wants.
Also me being the only male in the building probably works to my advantage and I am spared from her wrath.
I have tried to stray away from the Oh woe is me posts and lean more towards the "my work environment is horrible" posts (if you can understand the difference. Because I understand that really if it was that bad I could just stop working. But I do need the money.
But on top of all that, I went in today and one of the teachers is gone and I got this comment from the director "We will only have qualified teachers working here, do you have a problem with that?"
"umm no." |

Just make her fire you. Do absolutely nothing outside of your contract. I don't think you really need a LoR yo get another job (go public school). Just find a job someplace else, explain to your new employer the circumstances under which you are working now and find out how to get your sponsorship changed. The devil may only keep qualified teachers, but she may have trouble staying open with no teachers at all. Find a good employer. Sounds like she has already broken the contract anyways, so start lookin ad quit bytchin.

today my boss told another teacher to card catalog every book in our library. When the teacher said that she was a teacher and that she should get either an assistant or the receptionist to do it. The boss replied with "I'm your boss, you do what I say" Then went on about how she can fire her at any time but she's doing her a favor by letting her stay because she is such a horrible teacher and she could never find a job anywhere else because of how shameful her family is. (I'm sure some of the real juicy details got lost in translation) But anyways, I had to deal with a co-worker today that had visibly been crying her eyes out for her entire lunch break. Looked about 2 steps from a hysterical breakdown and then at the end of the day she was passing out her stuff to the 2 remaining teachers because she figured she was gonna get fired at the end of the day and didn't want the boss to get all of her material that she worked hard on. Oh and she called her the devil as well. So either koreans use the term "Devil" rather freely or my boss is a fuckin whack job. Oh and to top it off, my boss walks in to my room this morning and says..."From now on, you no teach. Just point to things and make students lepeat" I guess she figured I could just spend an entire day pointing at tables and chairs. Needless to say, I just did what I normally do when she talks to me. Said ok and ignored every word she said. |

Nope, I teach in Seoul. And the teacher got fired. I guess after my boss told her to pack her things. She walked her to the door, gave her a big smile and told her good bye. The teacher replied with "I think you're crazy" |

Wow . Does she have 666 tattooed on her person?
She certainly is crazy firing people left, right and centre. Does she think that is a good way to run a business?
