I'll be living very close to Seoul soon, in Yongin, and was wondering if anyone knows a place to play basketball. Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty far from Yong-in so doubt we'll play together, but my advice is to contact your nearest sports center. Ask around and find out where one is. Then go there and find out when they have open gym for basketball. If you make it that far, try and be buddy-buddy with some Koreans you like playing with and hopefully they keep you in the loop. If you're American you could play on base. Whenever you meet other foreigners ask them as well if they play. It's not too bad in the summer, but finding an indoor gym in the winter is pretty tough. good luck

Uh, Yongin is not close to Seoul at all. In fact, much of Yongin is about 1.5 hours away from Seoul. The parts of Yongin near Bundang ar ok, but most of Yongin is not very nice.

My part of Yongin is slightly less than an hour away from Seul (Gangnam). There's a basketball court nearby and i see the Koreans going at it with entusiasm. I suck or I'd join in.

I initially misread the title as pickup baseball, that's something I'm ore interested in.

I'll be arriving in Seoul (Kangnam-Ku) in about a week, and I don't want to waste any time before starting to play basketball. I'm not very good, and in terrible shape, but I love to play, so I ran a search and found this thread.

I should probably wait until I get there, because any location you tell me now isn't going to mean much, but I might as well bump the thread since I'm interested.

Outdoor pickup ball would be great too.

PS - Are you guys still able to follow NBA basketball? My Raptors are back in the playoffs for the first time in years, against Vince Carter and the Nets no less, and I'll be on a plane to Korea when Game 2 tips off. Sad

You should message l-train, the guy who posted earlier. I've been playing at the Gangnam YMCA with him and some other people every Sunday. Really good games.

Might be playing around Yongin sometime soon. My number is 010-3146-2009 if youre interested.
