after seeing that other ppl living in korea are getting a much better connection to the net, i asked my cable company to explain why my "high speed" connection was so low speed. the tech who came to my home said, "korean internet cable is designed for use on korean sites. it doesn't connect well with 'foreign' sites. it is the same for everyone."
so, i guess you are all lying about your fast internet service.
i live in Daegu, in a new, "modern" apartment, and have the "best" internet available.

| go to http://speed.nia.or.kr/english/ click on speed test and tell the IT guy your speed - this site is Korean, if you have slow speeds he'll have to respond. |

He is simply lying to you.
There should be a guarantee of upload speed.
With broadband/DSL you should be getting at least 1Mb down.
It could be bad cabling, or the splitter may be bad.
Check with your neighbors see how their service is.
Get another provider.

The cable guy is being a dillhole.
Did he show you a speed test from the hanaro site? After I got my cable internet hooked up I got a speed test of 20 megs down on the hanaro site. Yes, your high speed internet is faster from Korean sites...but your speeds are rediculously slow. |

You should have told him that the internet was invented by AMERICANS and kick him in the azz hard as he's leaving.
Nice how he pulled the ole "It's the foreigner's fault" excuse. |

| It probably has more to do with the pipeline between America and Asia then your loop. |

Yokohama is in Japan. But yeah, he probably isn't getting a good connection. You really need to check on a Korean speed test site. |

Download Speed: 4.6 Mbps (579 kB/s, 578,845.1 cps)
Upload Speed: 651 kbps (81 kB/s, 81,415.1 cps)
Not much of a computer whiz but this seems fast yet, I can't stream videos properly? one website i have to stream it at low (56K) for it to stream properly.. it's just been about a week i can't figure it out..I like to watch the news on the CTV website (different from the one I mentioned above)but it won't stream properly even if you put the video on low.. you have to hit pause to let it load for a while and then hit play for it to go....But yet, i'm streaming radio from a station on PEI.. it's very frustrating |

I live in the Korean countryside, in an old apartment, and the last time I checked my speed on speedtest.net I got around 13 000 kb/s download and 1500 kb/s upload speed.
That tech guy was clearly full of it.
If it helps I'm with Megapass (KT), maybe you should try switching? |
