Sealed transcript is request by Korean Immigration. Please note that you can not have an open ,even very small part. It has to be fully sealed.
Order from your school few , and bring them in case you need them for new job place. Each time if you change work place, you need a sealed transcript for Immigration in order to issue a work Visa for you. |

It lists all the grades you recieved for all the courses you took. And its very important that they stay sealed. I would order two copies just in case some jackass decided to open yours by mistake. |

Kat is right but get more than 2. Get a bunch if you plan on getting other jobs here. |

Read a job ad that said:

Take note: All English instruction jobs in Korea now require sealed transcripts sent directly from your University. |
Is it true? |

|

Well, I understand the whole sealed thing. Generally, in the past I've requested that the school seal the envelope and then put a stamp or signature across the back. In fact, I think I still have a few copies from 2004 that were sent to me in that manner, which leads me to the first question:
1) Is there a limit on how old the transcripts may be?
and
2) Now that I have an M.A., will I need transcripts from both the M.A. and the B.S.? I suppose that would extend to the original or notarized copy of the degree, too. So,
3) Is it necessary to have an original or notarized copy of both the undergrad and graduate degrees? Or does just the graduate suffice? Oh, one more thing,
4) If the undergrad information is needed, would a transcript from every undergrad institution attended be necessary? I went to several undergrad institutions.
I understand the purpose of all this is to make sure that we've attended school and have the degrees we say we do, so it would be logical that someone with a Master's would only have to submit the Master's information. It would also be logical that only the final undergrad institution transcript would be necessary. But is bureaucracy logical?
Thanks,
Nan |

It has been said that if they are dated there is a 90 day limit on them but I personally have recently used ones that were several years old.
and

No, Just your BACHELORS.

They do NOT care about your MA. In fact they will reject your application if you just submit your MA information.
4) If the undergrad information is needed, would a transcript from every undergrad institution attended be necessary? I went to several undergrad institutions.
Just the one from the institution that issued your Bachelors degree.

NO

Just thought a thanks was in order. So -- Thanks! I would be asking you about my contract, too... but seems it's a typical public school contract that is on par with all the rest.
Cheers,

Order at least 5 if you plan on working more than two jobs during your time in Korea. I'm glad I did since my first boss 'accidentally' opened one of mine. |

Just today I went to the K-consulate here in Chicago, and had my 3 year-old transcripts notarized. They were still in the sealed envelope, with stamps across the back. The consulate worker opened them up, notarized them, and charged me $2 per transcript. Apparently this was not an odd request.
Oh - and I was told by my very trusted recruiter that this would be adequate. Now we just have to see if I can trust the UPS store on a pleasant Friday... ACK! |
