Man, this board is so skewed. Aside from the stuff that is outright wrong, people just like to ignore the facts that make them uncomfortable. |
This board may be skewed, but so is the OP.
It is true that murder is a problem in the USA. Perhaps we should compare traffic fatalities as well? |

People on this forum aren't pissed because they think that Korea or Korean society bear any responsibility for this tragedy but because:
1. The reaction of the Korean government etc. seemed to focus more on fears of an anti-Korean American backlash than on the victims of the tragedy, when no such fears were warrented.
2. If an American student in Korea gunned down 32 Koreans, the Korean reaction would be ugly.
3. Because of idiots blathering about things like "this only happens in America" which is definately not the case.
4. Residual anger over Korean ill-treatment of foreigners following the 2002 tank incident. |
Preach on brother!! You speak the truth.
Now, I haven't read every post on the topic but what you said seems to be exactly what people are getting at. Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen any "look what Koreans do" or "yeah, Koreans are all messed up" kinda things.
Seems to me the only ones playing the "race" card are the ones attacking the US.
Peeps are just way too sensitive. They finally find a country they're accepted in and they can't handle any criticism of it. |

Also, it's helpful for non-Americans to realize that many Americans think of themselves as residents of their states first and country second. Many never travel to more than a region of the country, it's huge. You are a Texan or a New Yorker or Oregonian, first and foremost, and what is going on the rest of the country is, well, far enough away to be kind of like another country.
|
You've NEVER been to the US, have you? You know nothing about Americans, do you?
Oh, and don't mess with Texas. That'll get on my LAST nerve. |
