On TV or in movies...
When an actor drinks from a coffee mug it always seems to be empty...
I just saw it again in Numb3rs...the guy took a sip from an empty cup
It looks really obvious
Why don't they just put something inside?

I dunno, but in some of those action movies I sure wish they'd use some real bullets already.

i noticed that too, it's pretty lame and very clear that there's nothing in it.

water probably has too much fat in it

Its just easier to shoot it that way.

Lets say there's something in the cup. You are shooting take after take trying to get the scene right. The last thing the director needs is to retake a shot because there's some liquid on the actor/actresses lip, or they spill some lifting/putting down the cup, spill some trying to drink, etc...etc...

Especially in a TV show where there attention to detail required.

Also there's the continuity problem if the level of liquid in the cup keeps changing. One less thing to worry about.

They're actors they are supposed to act.

It shouldn't be obvious. Poor actors (that show has a lot of them).
