The Korean Consulate in Houston requires the following:

A signed US passport with remaining validity of at least 6 months and one blank visa page.

A completed and signed Application for visa

A recent passport color photo attached on the application form
$45.00 Visa Processing Fee. All fees can be paid by Cash or Money Order. All Money Orders should be made payable to The Korean Consulate.

If you are applying by mail you will have to include a prepaid postage return envelope (USPS Express mail, Fedex or similar kind of overnight mail) with complete address for the passport to be returned.

A copy of Certificate of Academic Degree

Everything's a go except for having my degree, since I had to send it to Korea to get my visa certification number.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?!

The embassy or consulate only needs your passport, 2 pictures, the money, application form, and the visa issuance number. They don't need the degree when you have that number. You can call them, and that is what they will say. I think they just mention it, as that is what you will need to get a visa.

An original diploma is not a unique thing. You can always request another 'original' one from your college for a nominal fee.

I thought I had the same problem (In Australia) when I went to apply for my E2 visa because the official website did say needed the degree, all of which in my case were in Korea (and at a cost of $75 - 100 each to replace, and I had 3, plus a timeframe of around a month to replace) I went without it and said they were in Korea and had no problem at all.
