I'm trying to find the cheapest way to get to Phuket, but the prices seem absurd. I know July and August are the peak season for airline tickets, but there aren't any good deals out right now at all. I've check into flying direct, first to bangkok and then a connection, as well as flying to Singapore and then taking a Tiger Air flight, or through Asia Air.....No matter how I calculate it, they all end up being around 900,000. Is this normal? And why haven't places like Whypaymore set their prices for July yet? I wanna beat the mad rush of people booking summer vacations (maybe I already missed my chance). Any advice?

I wouldn't worry about it - you are a tad early to be thinking about July/August. Wait until June.

I recently got an open ended return to Bangkok for 463,000 from Unique travel in Itaewon. Leaving Korea in 2 weeks time... Give them a try, address is in the sticky but I think its [email protected].

Often China Air or Eva air (both through Taiwan) will be the cheapest ticket. From Bangkok to Phuket you can fly Air Asia really cheap. Better make sure Air Asia to Phuket is still going from the new Suwanabumi (Sp) airport. They had to move a lot of their local flights back to Don Muang.
Whypaymore does have an office and a phone number. Try getting a friend to call them of go visit. A friend of mine went to their office for a ticket to America and found them to be very helpful.
I used that travel agent in Itaewon, forget if it was Unique, think so. They
were also good.

I got a return ticket Incheon <-> Bkk in Dec / Jan (also peak season) for 700,000 won, with Top Travel using Thai Air. It stopped in Taiwan on the way back to Korea.

Also went to Kamala Beach in Phuket by catching the overnight train from Hualamphong Stn, then a bus from Surat Thani to Phuket. There are plenty of domestic flights Bkk > Phuket for around $100 US each way.

Dudes, getting a ticket to Thailand is tough, so try to go to the Philippines instead. I probably will opt for Boracay over Phuket, as I had a fantastic time on the Philippine isle last week.

Thai has set their airfares for late July, 680k to BKK + tax so figure 800k. Think I'm going to go Eva Air until the end of June its 420k with tax, travel agent said figure 500k. downside is you either have to spend the night in Taipei or get into BKK at 1:40A, outbound the flight leaves BKK at 6AM

300K is not worth the price of convience IMHO

I just purchased my ticket to Singapore through Singapore Air. For 2 people it comes out to 500,000 each. I can then get a RT ticket to Phuket for about 100,000 via Tiger Air. I just saved myself about 300,000 by purchasing the tickets on my own.
