T60 1,700,000 won :

Z61 1,200,000 won :

Lenovo/IBM 1,500,000 won :
HP 1,800,000 won :
My requirements :
- a widescreen resolution of 1400x1050 or larger
- 14.1 (or 15.4 if it is light like under 2.8kg)
- Duo 2 Core (or Duo Core)
- DVDRW
Can anyone advice on real world differences between Duo Core and Duo 2 Core? I hear its anywhere between a 10% to 20% using benchmark programs wtih Duo 2 Core still retaining the same battery life. If the differences are insignificant then I would be all over the Z61,
I know most of what I got up there are IBMs/Lenovos, anyone got any other suggestions? There weren't many to choose from despite the masses of Korean notebooks out there. |

Why do you need a powerful cpu?
Your decision souldn;t be based around the cpu but rather the video card. |

| I need a good CPU to last a little longer. When Pentium M first came out, I could only afford the 1.4Ghz version and that was nearly 3 years ago. I need something that is noticeably faster. |

Turst me anything faster then 3 year old technology is faster. I still rather have a nice video card compared to the cpu speed. |

my decision would be based on screen size 12" or smaller, preferably 10". run of the mill video cards will run anything I need a laptop to do. |

This notebook looks alright, but can you get it in Korea? The price is good anyhow..

Intel likes to show off its spiffy 65-nanometer-process technology, and Toshiba is happy to oblige: The new Satellite A135-S4527 is an $800 laptop powered by a new dual-core, 1.73GHz Pentium D T2080 processor with 1MB of Level 2 cache and a 533MHz front-side bus. The latter is in sync with the Satellite's 1GB of DDR-2/533 memory.
Intel's 943GML Express integrated chipset provides the graphics behind the 15.4-inch widescreen (1,280 by 800) TruBrite display, while a 120GB hard disk and DVDRW drive join Atheros 802.11b/g wireless to round out the 6-pound portable's hardware. Software includes Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Microsoft Works 8.5, InterVideo WinDVD 8 SD, and Google Desktop and Toolbar. |

T60
Magnesium case - thin - sexy and a workhorse.
I think it has a fingerprint scanner on it as well. |

The T60 does seem like the notebook I'm looking for. I really want to use the notebook for what it is, to type on my lap. I want to be able to carry it to most places, write blogs and work on my website. I've been using my 15.4" notebook doing all that and while it has admirably lived up to the task, it is getting a bit old. Perhaps its time to hand it down to someone else who do not need the extra power of today's technology (thanks sis!).
Also, is it possible to replace the keyboard in case I want to change it to a different language? |

The other option would be the top spec R60.
magesium body again. A little bigger than the T60 but I think you should save a bit on it. I might be wrong though. |

Definitely T60.
I have a T40 that I've been using for years. Its not a desktop replacement notebook but its been serving as one while I've been in Korea. This laptop is a serious workhorse.
Thinkpads are awesome. The battery life and reliability is second to none. |
