I did a search on this but nothing relevant turned up. I've just spent half an hour trying to set up online banking through KEB. Overall I've been satisfied with the service I've received there; finally I'm getting around to setting up online banking. And I'm about to go nuts. First you have to request online banking materials at your branch. This entails filling out forms and getting a security code card. You then have to puzzle your way through various Konglish instructions online. You have to download various encryption programs as well as a certificate. This is where the process fell apart for me, so I went back to my branch. Again, the employees were great: they downloaded the certificate onto my USB drive. I have installed it and guess what! It's still not working. There may be some fairly simple reason why this continues to be a problem. I have not the first clue what it is, and I'm slipping into one of those 'why must everything here be needlessly difficult, and how soon can I move to another country?' moments. I do appreciate the concern for online financial security, but if the idea of security means preventing your customers from actually banking online, umm... actually that says a lot.
Has anyone else gone through this in English? Does anyone know of another bank with comparitively hassle-free online services? |

Other banks won't have half the services in English like KEB has. |

I actually had it a few years back... couldn't do much, but I could check my balance.
Now with a new computer, trying to set something up, it's freaking impossible. I've given up. I probably spent about 6 or 7 hours in total over two weeks trying to get it to go. |

I asked about it at my branch a few years ago, and ended up with the Bank manager showing me how to do it. I do remember that I had to do it in Korean, but I'm not sure why that is. |

I've been using KEB online banking for years. It's great.
To the OP: THere is probably somnething simple (but irritating nonetheless) to figure it out. Stick with it...You'll be glad you did. |

I've used it for three years. Make sure you don't have CAPS LOCK on when you put in the password. Only use Internet Explorer. But do persevere...
I can't transfer money online. ALways get an error. Just do it from an ATM now. ANyone else done this succesfully? |

I went through the process of setting up online banking with KB, and it wasn't that much of a drama.
I do remember being stuck at a few different points, but all I did to resolve it was call head office in Seoul, and they walked me through it. Only took an hour or so.
I can't remember exactly, but on the setup screens (I think) there was a number I called, left my name and number and a few minutes later an English speaker called me back. |

I transfer money home online with KEB. You apply for it along with the Internet banking. They examined my contract and bank book, and set a limit of how much I can send back. When that amount runs out, I'll show them my bank book again (with a new batch of salary deposits from my employer) and I'll be set for another few months.
I had a few hassles setting the Internet banking service up, too. My problem was that there seem to be TWO sets of security software to download and install, so make sure you read the instructions carefully and follow each step. Failing that, un-install everything and try again. If that doesn't work, go back to the bank, cancel everything, and get them to set you up with a totally fresh online banking ID, certificate and whatnot.
As the others have said, it's definitely worth persevering with. |

I have an F-2 visa - maybe that's the reason. Have any of you E-2s out there managed to arrange international transfers online? |

They told me the same thing re: int'l transfers.
I didn't know about the int'l ATM transfers, but I'm going to look into it. That might help out a bit. |
