So I posted about bad service at a bar in Pusan and (pusanweb) they edit out the name of the bar! What a horrible life those expats must live in Busan!
So I went to (a PNU bar) this past Sat. for the first time at about 11:00pm to have a drink or two. There were about 6 six people there. I sat down at the bar and one of the two girls handed me a menu. I sat there for about 5 mins. while one girl at the bar was busy sending a text mesg. and the other one was giving out here number to some guys at a table. Finally got my drinks...I ask the girl do you have a lighter? She says they don't and walks away... Well welcome to Busan!

Jesus, are you ok???? That sounds awful!
Seek counseling- you don't want a traumatic event like that ruining the rest of your time in Korea. Be strong! You can do it! |

I too am shocked. Truly shocked that this happened to you. How did you get through the weekend without slitting your wrists or going back to that bar with a crow bar and beating the waitress into a bleeding mass of quivering flesh?
I've always heard that the people in Pusan, especially the men, were cold and undemonstrative. I say, quit your job down there...do a runner...and move up north where the locals know how to treat a foreigner with respect. |

Once, back in '97, I ordered a pizza for delivery. I asked for mushrooms, and they said they were out, like it was no big deal!
Then, the pizza took 25 minutes to get to my house, not the 20 minutes I was hoping for.
Then, I tried to complain about it on this pizza messageboard (that had the pizza place in question as one of it's five advertisers) and they took off the name in my complaint.
I still can't order a pizza to this day without thinking about it. Everytime I ask for mushrooms, I fear that they will have the gall to say "no."
You are not alone, my friend. You are not alone. |

So you think you had a bad day.
I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.
Face it If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Good thing the mods over at pusanweb are such tyrants! It gave you a chance to come here and put in your place.
If your life is that hard, take the silver spoon out your ass and smile. |

Otherwise you will be waiting forever.
It's not bad service, it's just korean. |

They must have had you pegged as a wangta and naturally left you alone. Women can sense this. Besides which, Pusanweb makes it a policy not to name names--you'd know as much if you read their posting guidelines.
Crossroads is the best bar in the country, but it's not an Outback where they presumably take your order; you have to go up to the bar and order your drinks there.
And one of those two bartenders who supposedly ruined your precious night is the best bartender I've ever known, either in Korea or back home, both in terms of personality, efficiency, and attitude. |

Welcome to Korea!
It's obvious you are fresh off the boat. You'll get the hang of it and learn that, in Korea, the customer is always wrong.
It has nothing to do with this particular bar. That's the way it works in this whole country.
Anyway, said bar is my favorite watering hole in the entire country. If you're nice, not creepy, not rude, not lecherous to the staff, they will be nice back. Sometimes, they do have a couple of substitute barmaids working, when needed, who do a less-than-stellar job, but I and my friends have always gotten on fine there.
This reminds me of my friend, Fred, who I met when I first came to Korea. He's a nice guy, but can be demanding and have a bit of a temper.
He came down to Busan for a visit and we went to a popular PNU bar. As soon as we walked in, he sat at the bar and I had to catch up with a couple of people at another table for a couple of minutes. Well, I go back over to where Fred is and he doesn't have a drink and he is just fuming! He looked like he was about to pop with anger. I asked what was wrong and he went into a tirade of "You know I've been sitting here for 5 minutes and no one behind the bar has asked me what I want to drink!". The place was not busy and he continues going on and on about how they are ignoring him and on and on like it's the worst thing that's happened to him in a long time. He was about to storm out of the place, but I tried to calm him down and tell him that's not the way it works here. You have to get their attention and ask them to get you something. If you treat them like crap, they'll just ignore you.
He'd been here for a few years by that time, same as me, so I thought he would have it figured out, but he still expected it to be just like back home- the bartender putting on the fake smile and the "How ya doin'? What can I get ya?" because they want you to tip them.
It's a whole different world here! |

To re-iterate what Greekfreak said, Pusanweb has a no names policy.
Now, you know.
Hopefully, christopher, you will get a more quality life, so something as insignificant as this will not be deemed post-worthy in your mind! |

Hey,
I think Crossroads is a great place. The service was always pretty good when I used to go there. The staff are friendly and do not treat you like a freak. They were super nice to me from my first day in Busan. I eventually became a regular, so we became more like friends. They always knew what I wanted before I'd even ask. I have a similar thing going on here in Hong Kong but it's still not the same.... |

Well strictly speaking, you could get done for libel.
Not sure what Korean law is when it comes to slandering a company and damaging a business. |

Isn't it only libel if it's untrue? |
