I'm all for waiving the NEW visa issuance crap for the Koreans, but can't you see we have a negotiating point here. How about if in exchange we get to get our E-2 visas here without leaving the country? How about if we get a free-lancers E-2 visa, an extended, say three month stay? We could show our degree to a Korean consulate and get a job search visa. Then when we find a good job, the local immigration office could stamp our visas into it, without the hassle of a trip to Japan for no good reason.
Well, I can dream, right?
Anyway, the tighter visa changes were made because of terrorism. So people from other countries have to have a visa before they arrive at a US airport. There's no reason that Koreans should be on that list.
Then finally, the Korean kids born overseas will get to choose when they're eighteen if they want to be a Korean or an American. Want to guess what 95 percent of them will chose? |
