Despite the showy coronation and my constant waving and threats of beheading, I'm do actually believe in governing by consensus, so I'm putting some ideas out there for your approval:

What about a set date, i.e., the third weekend of the month, for the meetings? We could alternate between Sunday and Saturday afternoons to give more people a shot at participating.

For the picnics, what about a potluck approach, to take the burden of shopping, planning and cooking off of RTeacher? It would be lovely if people could just bring simple things like beverages, bread, fresh veggies, or more ambitious things like entrees and desserts to share?

The more difficult ingredients (i.e., only found in Itaewon or specialty shops) could fall under the umbrella of RTeacher and I, and hopefully Ron can continue to bring his marvellous magic hot-plate.

Feedback please!

Are omnivores who enjoy vegetarian food allowed to attend these meetings?

"Her Highness" may be too busy to answer right now, so I'll field your question ... Omnivores have always been welcome to attend - as long as they eat only vegetarian food when attending a veggie club function...

No secreting bacon in the pocket either.. the vegans tend to get cranky about that.

I personally would prefer to meet twice a month - how 'bout the first Sunday and the third Saturday of every month?

I suggest that we meet next at SM Ching hai buffet because several newcomers asked about where they can get vegetarian hot dogs/turkey, non-alcoholic malt liquor, etc., and that place is hard to find the first time without help...

Also, for that type of restaurant gathering, "Kermo" could just give her official sanction (and blessings) and wouldn't necessarily even have to attend (if she's too busy with something else...)

That's a very sensible idea. We could even alternate between picnics and restaurants.

I second the "omnivores welcome," of course.

Nah, as far as I know, Costco no longer imports veggie burgers/dogs (we should probably try to lobby them...)

Well, since "Kermo" likes the twice a month idea (at least till summer when everyone scatters or heads to beaches ...) the first Sunday in May would be May 6, and the third Saturday would be May 19 ...

SM Ching hai Vegetarian Buffet (Yangiae Station, Orange line #3, exit 5...) has nice outdoor tables (and lots of vegetarian products for sale ...)

There are really lots of other restaurant options around Seoul, but if that's the consensus choice we just need to decide whether to meet for lunch or dinner ...

Although their regular rate (for all you can eat from an excellent buffet...) is 13,000 won, I can get it down to an even 10,000 won per person (by creative financing ...)

A "pot-luck" picnic for May 19th? ( hey, I haven't had pot for over thirty years - someone might bring some funny brownies... Laughing )

Or mine, for that matter.
Hater, the "Seoul Vegetarian Club" wiki article doesn't yet reflect the change in figureheads.
