... to do something in Korea, what would you do? I have a 4 day weekend this weekend (yep, they told me today) and I was going to go to Jeju, but for Friday and Saturday, and a combination of 116 flights, there are no seats. So, I have 4 days, and starting in Seoul, what should I do?

So, 4 days...

Jeju is over rated! Trust me. There are many beautiful places...

Well, you could take the 1130pm train out of Seoul on the last day you work and go to Jongdongjin. Its due east on the beach. The train will arrive at sunrise, and its amazing. Get a love motel for the night and rest. Get up and have coffee at the cafe down the street (the whole town is a street) and enjoy the VIEW! Go see the North Korean Submarine, or hike to the local temple. There is also an art park. Its nice. Get a package tour for the day. Pay 30,000 or less and get all transportation paid. Good deal.

Then take the train to Busan, Gyeongju or soraksan. This time of year would be perfect for any of those.

Or just go to Gyeong ju in the south for 4 days. Its worth the bus or train ride. (the bus is faster.) Its an amazing place with a lot of Korean history still in tact. Rent a bike when you get there, and get a map. Stay at the Hanjin. Its the only place to be, there is no substitute.

Get out of Seoul though. Its rare that you get to leave and enjoy the beauty of Korea in the Spring. Take a camera, good book and have a great time.

I just came back from Seoraksan National Park and it's a great time to go there. The crowds are minimal, and there's more than enough around there to keep you busy for 4 days. I even got up to Daejim to look out over N. Korea.

four days, eh?

Well, I know you are looking for something to do in Korea..

1. Camping in Gangwon province?
2. A minni packbacking tour of Korea (just hop on/off the train)?
3. A fishing trip somewhere?

Also, you have pleanty of time to go to Taiwan and have a few days to kick back and party.

You could go explore Kyongju. It's the old capital of Korea, during the Silla dynasty. It's often referred to as the outdoor museum.

If I could ask. . Why, when, and how do you get a 4 day pass? Assuming your in a hagwon.

I recommend staying in a cabin on Ganghwa-do.

If it were me, I'd probably spend the whole weekend inside in bed watching TV.

Sorry, should of cleared things up better but I was in a rush.

I have been to Jeju, I like it, and I have a free apartment to stay in there because my GF's parents have one in Seogwipo.

Anyways, GF's mom is going to lend us her car for the 4 days, so we are going to have wheels and can go anywhere when we want. Right now, we are just wondering, do we head south or east? I like the idea of going to Gyeongju, but also Seoraksan. Keep are trying to convince me with new ideas. You guys are doing a good job.

A ferry...though it eats up hours...is perhaps an option if you're really wanting to go to Jeju. Granted, it is overrated, but Seogwipo is the nicest part.

Yeah, been there more than once, very relaxing for me. However, only going if we get a flight. Might just go on the waiting list, but still have the car ready for the weekend in case.

Just returned from my 4 day drive/trip around Korea. It was fantastic and we had great weather. We left on Saturday and got back Tuesday around 2PM.

On the first day, we drove down to 보성 to see the plantation. We got there just before dusk, so it was pretty nice. It really does look great. After that, we headed to 여수 for the night. We planned to leave around noon, but ended up staying until 4PM because we ended up doing quite a bit while there. Nice city to visit and a nice little spot on the coast.

After 여수 we drove over to 경주. After fighting through the crap traffic and somehow getting into downtown 부산 (I wasn't navigating) we made it up to 경주. We spent the day there on Monday visiting the sights like 불국사, 석굴암 and some of the burial mounds. After that, we drove up to 대전 to spend the night. We left 데전 around noon and got home around 2PM on Tuesday.

I had a blast and it was nice driving around Korea and getting to see the landscape. It sure is nice to get out of Seoul though, and it is funny to see how people in some of these smaller areas react to foreigners, mostly just blatant staring and freaking out by the kids.

Can't wait to do it again.
