Anyone have any info on these two places, or which is a better/nicer place to teach?

Let's start a poll..Smile

If you had to pick one of the two?

You are very helpful thank you.

Well a few people on this board (I'm pretty much guessing you'll get two or three of these kinds of responses) will say Incheon is terrible and has no redeeming qualities. I have lived here for a year and it's really not that bad.

Have you been offered a job yet? If so, what type of school are you going to teach at?

I say Incheon is better than Pyeongtaek, but some of guys here say Incheon is boring place. If Incheon is boring, I think Pyeongtaek is boring place too.
They are both within one hour from Seoul by subway.

If you plan to do a bit of travelling around Korea, Pyeongtaek is well-connected transport-wise. Trains, buses and subway. Bus terminal and train station are close together in the central part of town. Transfer to the KTX at Daejeon if going to Busan or Daegu or Gwangju.

It is indeed pretty boring, but there is good access to other places, and it's quiet. Bit stinky at night in rice planting season, though.

Which sounds better, MrPyungtaek or MrIncheon? I feel for you. It would be like if I left my Korean wife and got me a nice Aryan woman.

Just being friendly. Anyway, my vote would be for Incheon but I haven't lived in either city. Pyungtaek just seems like a landlocked dump.

I lived in Pyeongtaek for 18 months so have some idea of the area. There are groups of APTs around in different locations and you really need a trip on the bus to get around unless you have a car.

The thing I didn't like about Pyeongtaek was it was too dusty. They are building loads of new APTs around there and the dirt gets kicked up and travels all over the city.

I would recommend that you look at Bundang 'cos its 30 mins away by car and in the same province. Pyeongtaek is good for your first time in Korea but not much to do unless you have a jaunt in the city.

Sh*tty place and sh*tty hagwons I'm afraid.

i have been living in incheon for 2 months now and i dont have a bad word to say about the place.

its close to seoul, there are foreigners but not too many and the locals are friendly.

one thing i would say is that incheon is a big place and some areas may be better than others. Yeonsu and bupyeong seem like the best to me.

dont listen to the knobheads on here who will constantly bitch about the place, it always seems to be the same people who do the bitching and never have a good word to say about anything in korea.

Pyeongtaek's plus is that its so close to Songtan. Incheon is good as its on the Seoul subway line, has a better variety of shopping and restaurants. But I'd also choose Incheon, because there are some great island getaways off the coast there, with some nice beaches to summer on, like Deokjeok-do, etc...

I have lived in Pyeontaek and it was a nice place. Main advantage is that it is close to the army camp so you can buy some american things there. Disadvantage is that in 5-7 years that place will have about 30,000 americans living there. A lot of farmers will not like you. If you are single and young I would choose Incheon which is closer to seoul. A lot more to see and do. Also,,,kids in pyontaek seem to be a lot more hard headed than counterparts up north. Shocked
