It says in the contract that I am supposed to get one month's notice of any vacation time given. |

Your dictionary is broken. "Given" and "requested" have two different meanings. He requested the time off instead of the vaction time being given to him, so that falls outside the agreed scope of the one month advisory. |

Thanks for your input but I didn't request the time off...it was told to me on Tuesday, 5 days before the week vacation, "Hey, you don't have to come in next week, and I'm not going to pay you." Rather than have given me the one month's notice...I was also kind enough to LET HIM pick my weeks off that are most convenient for him...thus the need for me to get at least a one-month notice...so I can have adequate time to plan on getting the hell outta dodge... |

Kiddirts,
Curious, you knew that your time off was not going to be paid, so would not your 2.6 be prorated for the months where you are given vacation time?
If that is the case, you are really only arguing about 650,000 won (.25 of 2.6 million, one of the four weeks). By your admission, your boss is willing to pay you 1.3 (half), but 1.95 (three-quarters) is what you should be paid during months where you take one week of vacation time.
Is $500 USD worth burning the bridge you are currently trying to construct with your employer?
I am sure with a little wit and some verbal lubrication that you could reach a compromise somewhere in the middle of the figure from above with your employer, so you are really only talking about a couple hundred dollars.
Again, placing demands are the path of ignorance and though many here often take that path, I maintain that it might be best for you to avoid heading that direction.

what your director did was inconsiderate, not very surprising coming from a hogwan owner. However his not giving you proper warning about your time of is a breach on his part. I suggest you politely but very firmly say that since he did not give you the proper warning he still has to pay you in full. In if he gets angry don't lose your temper. Remain calm and stick to your guns. Prehaps this will be a lesson to him and plan out what he is doing ahead of time to avoid such problems. |

Exactly!
I am glad to see you and your employer can accept and understand the need to be flexible.
I hope your year goes well for you. |
