Isn't there anything that can be done for those ajossis driving around with their small blue trucks loudspeakers on?

They come and go about 10 times in a day and the sound can be heard far away.. driving me crazy :/

These guys honestly believe they are providing a valuable service to the community, and despite the fact that 90% of the people in Korea you talk to hate it, it's just one of those things you have to let go.

You could always move to higher floor, though. That worked for me until the 세탁아저씨 started coming door-to-door at 7:30 every morning yelling at that top of his lungs. Rolling Eyes

I hate these guys as well. The one that collects laundry at 7ish in the morning drived me crazy.

Put nails on the streets near your place. It will puncture their tires...repeat as long as necessary. They will start to avoid that place at some point.

Selecting an apt. on a higher floor doesn't help. I lived on the 20th floor a year ago and you can still hear them. Piszes me off big time. Now the clowns come around several times a day. As one's leaving another's arriving, and each blaring their message to outdo the dude they're passing. Noise is one of Korea's great drawbacks. (Pink cardigans on dude's is another....But that's another thread.)

I feel your pain about "propaganda trucks"... My advice to you is two- fold. One, like my friend did two years ago, is to go down, after you've had enough and warned the perpetrators day in day out that they are noisy and disturbing your sleep, and rip the god damned speaker off the roof , throw the mofo away! If he's a "dubu" guy, rip the bell out of his hand, chuck it and and say, "you're next!" Make it clear that you dont want him around at that particular time. Point to a watch and show him the time to come...That guy finally got the message the following week...

Second, you could do what I did four years ago...if the perpetrators are outside below your window not too far away...invest in some eggs and egg the bestard! Makes for a great fun activity for all your friends who stay overnight. Make sure your aim is on the mark, and that everyone has a turn! I had fun with the laundry -scooter guy/ the fish guy and the garlic fella. It took a few weeks but their pick up arrival times changed and catered to my sleeping hours!

You know what the irony is in all this? I bought a couple trays of eggs from "the eggman" in the porter who came near my apartment in the LATE mornings! Laughing

.... I guess word got out around the neighborhood! ....Anyways hang in there kiddo!

I used to hate them, but now I buy their shit aaaaaaaaaaaaaall the time. Its incredibly cheap. Nothing like getting watermellons at half of the grocery store price Smile

My old neighbor (foreigner), used throw eggs at them.

It worked very well.

But it's kinda hard to be rude to them knowing that they're not the most well-off people around :/

I just went out though and politely informed one of the guys that he is making hell of a noise with that, so he turned volume down a bit Smile

Oh yes, they come from 6AM to about 9AM, often playing the national anthem and all this talking on loud speakers. Others are selling eggs and go "Sa-oooooo blah blah blah" I want them to go away. I always wake up and think, "someone needs to go out there and turn him off" He is an annoyance or a public nuissance.

I do not get enough sleep here as it really is not a comfortable place and the adjossis come early every day so if I go to bed at 1AM and have until 8 or 9 to rest, I only get like 5 or 6 hours of sleep.

I know you can't do nothing about the early morning loud speakers, but I do wonder if people really like this loud speaker in the morning boo poo crap. It's an intrusion.

I live on the 16th floor, but regular as clockwork, every lovin' morning at 9:00 including Saturdays, a small boy stands outside my door and shrieks as loud as he physically can. It's a shriek of joy, a barbaric yawp, as he waits for the elevator with his mum. I never realized how long that damned elevator takes until he came along.
Any advice?
