Lets do it. We can setup rules and then get people to sign up. Have each team pay like 10,000 won as a way to cover costs and to lock in spots in the tournament.

It'll be a one day event. Have prizes for 1st and 2nd place. Also have a few other tables where teams knocked out of the tournament can challenge other teams.

Food. Drinks. People. Beer. Pong. What more could you ask?

rules like:

Each team gets 2 throws. Its up to the team to decide how they want to do the throwing order.
Elbows behind the table.
No bouncing the ball into the cup
Once ball goes into a cup, no blowing or fingering the ball out of the cup

If Team A nails the last cup with the first ball they have 2 options:
- They can throw the 2nd ball into the cup, if it goes in there is no retaliation throw for Team B. If it doesn't go in the Team B gets 2 balls to attempt retaliation shot.

- Team A can forfeit their 2nd shot giving Team B only 1 ball for retaliation shot.

If Team A clears all of Team B's cups, but Team B clears all of Team A's cups during retaliation shots, the game goes back to 3 cups each. (overtime/tie breaker/whatever you want to call it)

Cups that are knocked over due to carelessness will not be refilled and put back into play.

If a ball bounces off of a cup, its still in play. So if a ball bounces off the rim of a cup, and the opposing player, in an attempt to catch the ball, fumbles it and it falls into a cup, then that counts an being in.

Only 1 rerack can be called per team.

A couple other rules out there that are just nitpicking at details, but those are the main ones that are agreed upon across College Campuses in the US.

I had no idea what Beer Pong was (showing my age here...).

To be honest, I just assumed it was playing Pong drunk Embarassed (was wondering where we'd get a Pong game in Korea...)

However, Wikipedia to the rescue (man, if college students could use HALF the energy they put into stuff like this for actual productive pursuits...)

P.S. My favorite part was:

Quote:
Psychological defense - A major element of defense is "sh*t talking" to psyche out the other team. The defending players will hurl insults or use distracting visual cues to distract the other team.

i can help organize this if you'd like...for two years i organized a 50 team beer pong tournament for my fraternity. the real question is venue. usually the floors are so f*cked from all the beer being spilled hour after hour, and, the team that wins inevitably has to puke and rally. is anyone in good with a bar owner that would support this?

I was thinking an outdoor setting. Get a keg or 2, setup some tables and just play pong. Koreans don't play beer pong, so they would have no idea what we were doing.

If its outdoors, we don't have to worry about spills. I was thinking about having an award. Like a "Golden Beer Pong Glove". A special gold glove with water resistant grip on the middle, index, and thumb. Winners of the tournament win the Glove and get an automatic entry into the next tournament complete with 1st round bye.

oh you have no idea. i've seen very serious fights break out between rival fraternities over disputes of "house rules" or the sh*t talking getting too personal. beer pong can get very very competitive.

i remember one of our tournaments we had an alcohol promotions company sponsor us handing out some new redbull/vodka-like drink complete with scantily clad shot girls walking around our house.

anyways, what are the laws like for drinking in public? are parks/rec. areas ok? would this have to be sort of a backyard affair? are kegs of comparable cost to those in the states ($60-70 avg., $40 on special)???

i've only been here like 10 days so the korean logistics would be impossible for me to handle. the tournament, however, i can do.

I move that if team A sinks all of team B's cups and team B gets retrobution, that if 1 player makes his shot and the other player misses, the first player gets to shoot until they miss.
Since inevitably some teams will be created randomly I don't want to trust my fate to some random guy that sucks. I wanna be able to shoot till I miss.
And we play with 6 cups How could anybody get drunk off of only 3 cups a side?

House rules are very important. My fraternity had soem of its own rules, the others had theirs. You respect house rules and don't bitch. Beer Pong is a serious sport Wink

We had a girl with very nice breasts who would flash to distract. She was a shitty player though. I've seen a lot of crazy stunts in this game. Lots of fun though.
