Hi,

I'll be heading back to the US between contracts, so I'll have about two months to travel around. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions of cities/places to see. I'm pretty interested in checking out San Diego(and heading down to Tiajuana). Have heard some good things about San Antonio as well. Thanks.

Chicago is a fun city to tour, so is San Francisco. If your into great museums and big places to walk around, Chicago and New York are great places. Grand Canyon tours are pretty cool too. Washington D.C. is another great place for museums and sightseeing. There are many more nice places to go, especially if you want to chill out in national parks, if you have access to a car to drive.

forget San Antonio, go to Austin much funkier city, then if you can bear the drive and the heat go to Big Bend Nat'l Park, a gorgeous place that gets very few visitors

For something a little different from the normal American city, spend a few days in Charleston, SC. Its a great place to just walk around and chill out. Savannah, GA is along the same lines as Charleston, just a little more rundown. Still cool though.
Cumberland Island, FL is a really neat place to spend a night camping. Its not a national park, but its a national marine reserve or national wildlife reserve-something like that. Anyway, you take a ferry over there, camp, hike around (its completely flat though). There are the ruins of an old grand mansion before it burned down and family donated the island to hte gov. Wild horses, hogs, and armadillos everywhere. There are giant spiders, so if you have sever arachnophobia, don't go. Otherwise, great for a nice overnight trip.

I spent nine months traveling the U.S. after graduating college and there are lots of incredible places to see. What is your main objective in taking this trip? Do you want to see amazing landscapes? Are you interested in ocean activities (deep sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing)? Are you interested in cities? Are you looking to party? If you give me a basic idea as to what you want to get out of this trip I'd be glad to offer a few suggestions.

When again will you be heading back to the States?

Two months?!!- I would totally try and do a road trip! On second thought..with gas prices these days....

You could also try Hawaii or Alaska

I'd highly recommend upstate New York, around Saranac Lake. Whether you like camping or staying in a hotel/motel, the scenery is beautiful. Great for decompressing.

I have several friends (from vancouver) that LOVE Athens more than any other place in north america

San Francisco is the best place in the US to visit, if you've never been. It looks exactly like you imagine it would. Plus it has El Farrolito (sp?), the greatest burrito in the US.
