Any recommendations or info on dance studios or places to dance(i.e clubs, events...parks..trainstations?j/k haha)

Following dance forms:
Hip Hop, Breaking, House, Modern, Ballet, Salsa, Barchata, Merengue, Hula

Where in Seoul are they? I've been trying to search online- but all I find are sites in Hangul and unfortunately, can't read (yet anyways).

Oh, I'm also looking for any classes in traditional Korean drumming if anyone could give me info on that. Thanks!

Club M2 in Hongdae houses local and foreign DJs. It's mainly house music.

Tinpan 2 in Hongdae has lots of foreigners dancing around to mostly hiphop.

Harlem (in Hondae and Gangnam) and Noise Basement (Club NB) in Gangnam play American hiphop/rap. Go with Korean friends to these as many Korean youth like to act like they are hardcore. If you dance with a Korean girl, expect to get stared at, have guys try to cut in or possibly jumped on a bad night. They won't jump you alone, either, they will have their friends with them.

You'll be fine. If you want foreign guys to dance with, hit up Tinpan and Tinpan 2.

I think your overstating the risks involved. I've been to all the hiphop clubs listed many times and danced with many of the girls. I have had guys not giving me enough room. And one time my friend went up to a girl with three guys around her sort of pushed one of the guys away and went in. He was told by the guy that this girl was his girlfriend (which she wasn't) he replied "*beep* you" in Korean then the guy summoned his friends. After that my friend denied saying *beep* you and walked away.

But like i said i've never really had any problems and that problem above was partially my friends.

As a girl you might have guys constantly approaching you from behind, which might get a bit annoying, or may be your thing. But you can always push them away, I don't think you would have much other problems.

Also I don't think the poster will be very impressed with tinpan. Tinpan isn't really a dance club, it's more of a bar with dancing. The dancing at the hiphop clubs is mostly just guys grinding girls. At NB and Harlem in Gangnam I do see black guys and the occasional white guy that know how to get down, but that's about it.

Who are these people getting jumped by Koreans? Maybe it's cause I'm black, but I've never felt remotely threatened at any of these ...ahem... hiphop clubs.

Thanx for the heads up!

So the general consensus is Tinapan (1 and 2) is a typical bar/bump in grind? Are the guys aggressive like, LA aggressive, or a little more reserved like guys in Tokyo, and Taiwan?

Honestly, space doesn't have to be huge as long as the music is sweet (Trust, I know how to carve my own space on a dance floor if necessary haha Laughing )!

organicspua: Ur right. Sorry, although I'm not against checkin a place like that out (everything is worth a try at least once-well-depending on how much the cover is haha)scenes like that can get tired fast.

sirfro: Thanx for the link I'll check out that soul sounds board ASAP!

so...anyone wanna hit up some places with me when i get there in august?! Wink

There is a latino music / dance scene in Seoul. I haven't been to any of the clubs and you might have trouble finding a male partner if you show up alone, but there probably something worth checking out.

For housey stuff..

M2 only has house, and brings good names, downsides it can be very packed (hongdae)
Via, very small, can be great can be dull, a bit hit and miss. (hongdae)
Tool, Deep house, nice music but lack of any atmosphere (i.e. people) (hongdae)
Circle, more flamboyant, more expensive, bottled service, and music harder more towards electro. Can be good, but not really about the music - more about the people who go. (although they have had good names) (apgujong)
S-Bar, same sort of thing, apgujong style (apgujong)
w hotel woo bar, expensive, a bar although they do have nights with djs from abroad.. apgu style.
walkerhill hotel gayagum, very big space next to woo bar, hosts big events. Can be excellent, can be terrible, choose the right party with a good dj and it will be excellent.

Just off the top of my head...
