Dear Daves,
Where in Seoul is a good place to load up on souvenirs? I'm talking about the whole shebang of souvenirs that range from the tacky to the authentic. Directions are always appreciated. Thanks for the help.
Sincerely,
Bobby |

When I'm getting souvenirs for people, I hit up Insadong for the older people, and Lotte World for the younger people. |

Insadong (but you can usually get the same stuff in Itaewon for less money).
Jamsil (under lotte-world). |

If you're looking for things like lacquer ware, the shops upstairs in the 'handicrafts market' of Namdaemun are A LOT cheaper than in Insadong. |

I know this doesn't quite answer the OP's original question: "Where can you buy souvenirs in Seoul?" Actually, that's been answered pretty well already, but you can do yourself a big souvenir favour if you just buy stuff as you go. Whenever you visit a temple, or market, or even if you just see something quirky in a stationery store - buy it. I am going back home for the first time in 30 months soon, and I am really glad that I have a big random sack full of quirky Korean gifty things. Some of the stuff I bought with certain people in mind, but a lot of it was purchased pretty randomly. |
