Will the conservative bloggers mourn the loss of Rosie? Decry the end of free speech and the rise of PCism? Or will they turn a blind eye. Nay, even bid a happy farewell? Oh, so be the whims of censorship. Hypocrisy, thy name is...

Rosie O'Donnell leaving `The View'
NEW YORK -Rosie O'Donnell's stormy tenure on "The View" will be a short one. The opinionated host was unable to agree on a contract with ABC, and she'll leave the show in June.
"My needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me," O'Donnell said in a statement Wednesday.
"This has been an amazing experience," she said, "and one I wouldn't have traded for the world."
O'Donnell has helped raise the ratings for the daytime chat show invented by Barbara Walters. But her outspokenness has caused almost constant controversy, including a nasty name-calling feud with Donald Trump that placed Walters squarely in the middle. |

Is this just a polite way of saying "You're Fired" ?(Careful I think the Don has copyrighted the phrase). I'm not really up on this, but considering the kerfuffle with her stereotyping Asians ala Imus, she's suffered a similar fate. Seems to me this was the exact same spin I heard when Tom Cruise lost his movie deal for being an erratic, "marry me, marry me" Scientoillogcist.
If Imus got fired for making his comments at least those priorities are applied consistently. I didn't cry for Imus, I'm not going to cry for Rosie. I'm nowhere near the right if anyone was wondering.

So you are condoning racism as ok for TV? And outlandish claims that incite hate speech to have fair rights to free speech? Or are you just trolling? |

Rosie is too unattractive and ignorant to be on The View. |

See the right can give it but not take it. Not a month ago many of these same posters were screaming about their rights and Imus' right to be a moron and the crazy femi-nazi PCness whish is ruining America/the west these days.
Just like suporters of the Iraq war or the Toronto Maple Leafs all the right-wing nutosphere free speech libertarians are gone like dust in the wind. I guess free speech only matters when you want to say the n-word, like so many on this board want to be allowed to say. |

So ABC would have had to offer her more than 'the world'. |

The question you posit is a non-starter for the simple reason that Rosie was in contract negotiations and Walters was undoubtedly among those who did not want this fat ignorant slob to remain on the show.
Imus was not in the same situation at all.
It has nothing to do with supporting free speech but feel free to prop up your strawman, puppet. |

What does some American talk show host have to do with the Toronto Maple Leafs? Leave them out of it. I never really watched the woman, ad I don't really care what Donald Trump has to say that much, either. If I want to listen to a wealthy person, I will listen to Warren Buffett or Bill Gates. I saw no evidence that O'Donnell got fired. She didn't think the money was enough for what she had to deal with on the show, and she only wanted more than one year. Being a talk show host isn't easy.
Ask Geraldo about that? As far as free speech, Geraldo had to becareful about what he had to say. What's all this hoopla about Rosie O'Donnell?
Why is she important?
It really looks dumb when you have on Larry King Mr. King interviewing Rosie or whomever and then later Donald Trump about a show. Is it really that consequential? I guess someone must watch the show. I think Don Imus did deserve to be canned. |

Octavius:
Imus should not have been fired but publicly rebuked and perhaps forced to take a brief hiatus. What Rosie says is at least as bad. Same for Stern.
And the worst offenders are Leykis (liberal/libertarian) and Savage (neo-con/libertarian) I think you'll agree. Although both can be hilarious. Savage is no dummy, despite his hysterics. He has a Ph.D in environmental medicine.
I'm not sure how you monitor decency. I do find Rosie crude and boorish. Trump was right: she's not very smart. That alone should exclude her from the show but then Walters seems to be getting senile. |
