I am going to Hong Kong for a weekend with my cousin. I will buy a lonely planet soon, but I would like to get some ideas now about stuff.

I am guessing that there are cheap electronics, like mp3 players and portable dvd players, is that right? how much are they and where can they be found?

What else is there to do there? I dont know much in terms of culture, so any hints on that would be appreciated.

i am sure the nightlife is good, is it like Shanghai? Is there a casino or something fun?

is there anything special like a food i should try?

thanks!

Dim Sum in HK is the best I've ever had(Sorry I can't give specific names-I was with a friend who knew the area really well so she led the way).

Check out :
Victoria Peek- The view from the top is really nice.
Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade(Super nice harbor to see at night) and Avenue of the Stars( If your into HK cinema)
Night Market

ea dim sum, go shopping in the markets or Nathan Rd, climb the midlevels, take the tramcar to the top of the peak an hour before sunset (long queue), ride the star ferry, take photos of HK from Kowloon side.

My buddy and I spent a weekend there lat year staying at the Eton Hotel in Jordan and had a really great time, thinking of going back!

A weekend is a good length of time for HK. Any more time and you'll probably be bored and broke. Plenty of time to do the worthwhile little sightseeing there is to offer and try the food.

hehe... we are going to spend 5 long weeks there this summer.

My sister lives there, though, so I guess we won't be as broke!
