|
|
For the long-timers...
Any of you built your own (western style) house in Korea?
Buy a piece of land, and build a real western style house (as opposed to the traditional thing, and living in one of those communist looking apartment blocks that all look the same).
I suppose the difficultly would be finding Korean contractors who are experienced at building a western style house.
And then of course trusting the Korean contractors to do the job properly. |

My wife and I have a couple of places. One is a traditional house (한옥집):
Another is a two-story brick house, with a nice-sized yard (I have pics, but not on this computer).
My mother-inlaw lives most of the time at the brick house. |

That's a lovely spread. Is that where you spend most of your time? |

I wish... Mostly, we only have a chance to go there on weekends, due to our weekday schedule. My wife wants to use it as a commercial property (homestay). First, however, we need to have the city water hooked up; the water lines are outside the gate, but a private contractor has to do the hookup. We used to have pumped well water, but no longer; we do still have a real well, with bucket and all. |

This thread sounds like the scene from the "nutty professor".
