For me it has to be the story on CNN about Anti depressants for dogs.

As you know, dogs are very sensitive and don't like being away from their masters. SO some dogs bark during the day, tear the place up or pine for hours on end.

So now you can go to a vets and get doggie anti depressants, so theoretically, your dog wont miss you during the day time!

How crazy is that?

Dogs don't need psychopharmacuticals!

What happens if the dog gets seratonin syndrome?

What if you take him off them and he gets withdrawal?

Wont he be confused anyhow? I mean if a human takes these drugs, if it makes them feel wierd, at least they know WHY they are having side effects, as they know they are taking meds. They also know if they stop them, they can end the side effects.

But I think it might freak a dog out, you know, really mess their poor heads up.

What's next?

Xanax for nervous bunny rabbits? Thorazine for psychotic cats? Electric shock therapy for morose tortoises...

Well, if a person was on anti-depressants why wouldn't they give them to the dog, too? It's cheaper than driving the dog to a daycare, getting a sitter, or sending the dog to a counsellor.

I am not sure if anyone cares, I just thought I would pass this on.

I just came back from E-Mart, and I bought sugar free jam. It is their own brand, so it should be carried in all E-marts.

They have apple, strawberry, and grape.

They also had Ocean Spray Cranberry juice, but I could not get it cause I could not carry any more stuff.

Anyway, people should check out E-Mart. They get new food items all the time. Just make sure if you see something that you like, buy as many as you can carry, cause what you see one week, may not be there the next.

That Fark link is perfect for this thread...

A young lady of Seville would not think of attending the bullfights at the Maestranza ring without.. OMG WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?

RaceTraitor: Here's a follow up to your link.

I wish people understood dogs are fkin' dogs. They're animals we've bred for centuries to suck up to us and do work for us. I've been a pet owner. I enjoy pets when I have time and space for them. But at the end of the day a pet is an animal. In the event of a natural disaster, my pet isn't a member of my family. It's a source of food. It doesn't deserve a spot on a rescue boat. It doesn't need a human being to risk life to rescue it from a fire.

I'm not going to spend large amounts of money on it because it's "depressed". Don't want to depress an animal because you're away for a long period of time? Don't get the animal. Simple as that. If you're buying it clothes, a birthday present, taking it to a pet psychiatrist, calling it on the phone when you're away on holiday, you're the one who needs the mental help, I think.

I really reject people who treat their dog better than they treat the humans around them.
