I'm not sure why Royce Gracie is not mentioned. He is in the UFC hall of fame.
I would say:
Chuck Liddell
Overall Record 20-3
Record in Title Fights 5-1
Title Defenses 4 (current)
Record against fellow champions 7-1
Current winning streak 7 (all by KO or TKO)
Here is why:
K.O.
Randy Couture
Randy Couture
Kevin Randleman
Vernon White
T.K.O.
Tito Ortiz
Renato Sobral
Jeremy Horn
Paul Jones
Renato Sobral
Tito Ortiz
Unanimous Decision
Noe Hernandez
Amar Suloev
Murilo Bustamante
Jeff Monson
Vitor Belfort
Loss
Jeremy Horn
Randy Couture
I'm some poeple will wait to see how he fares against Jackson, but I'll stick with Liddel. Much respect for Hughes though base on his mix of K.O's and submissions.
Rich Franklin deserves to be inculded, but I can't edit the poll. |

I'll say Royce Gracie for everything he did back in the early days of the UFC. |

First of all, Gracie was defeated by some Japanese guy a long time ago.
Second.
Name one UFC guy that is not on steroids.
I used to train a little and these guys at the top are all steroid users.
So can anyone name one fighter that doesn't take illegal performance enhancers?
3rd of all, this is not a sport, it's just who can go out and pummel a guy while he's down.
1. If you take them into a sport, none of them could beat a boxer at boxing.
2. None of them can beat a kickboxer at kickboxing
3. None of thm can beat a judo guy at Judo.
4. None ofthem can beat a wrestler at wrestling.
But if you talk about going into a 3 minute steroid rage and hope you get some shots in the guys head while he's on his back, yeah, they're all good at that. |

Yet if you're great at only kick boxing, judo, or wrestling you'll probably lose in the UFC. Just ask Mirko Cro Cop. I guess that's why they call it MMA. |

Yeah thats why gracy got his ass handed on his return fight.. He said that Jujitsu was good enough for UFC and no other style was needed. We now know that its far from the truth.
No pure martial artist does well in UFC. He was good at the begining but no where is he the best of all time..
I say Chuckles, and the Natural. |

Without starting a huge debate, I would say that in the modern era of MMA, Royce Gracie wouldn't last very long. Seems the fighters today are well schooled in Jui Jitsu (spelling?) and have a lot more power and overall skills. |

Fedor Emelianenko is in pride, the reason I made this poll UFC specific was that it's the MMA I know best. |

Ok, so how do you think he is going to do when there is a "national" championship? |

Let's face it, whoever the Mafia backs - at good odds - has the best chance of winning (of course, in the overall picture there's the Russian "Mafia" and Japanese "Mafia" also possibly trying to influence matches ...)
If even the Olympics couldn't stay uncorrupted, what chance does a violent, hard-to-predict, easy-to-fix sport like this have? ... |

Okay...
The UFC is not infiltrated by the mafia. Also, most these fighters are not doing roids. They may be doing things that are not tested for but Pride is the organization that is most roided out. The state's athletic comission tests for drugs and they are usually on the up and up.
Pride is another story. Pride, while not associated with organized crime in of itself is not the most legit company. I won't go into details on this but just rest assured that the parent owning company is not beyond a little extra bonus to throw a fight. |

One other guy to mention, although he doesn't have the greatest record is Oleg Taktarov. He was definitely one of the most exciting to watch. His fight with Severan was one of the best ever. |
