| No way. I spent a few months there. It's nowhere near as interesting as Seoul. If I lived in the states agin, it'd have to be NYC. Since it's too expensive, I am here. Free rent!!!! |

| It's a BIG state, Princess. Two weeks in El Paso doesn't mean you've seen it all. |

Actually, I spent 4 months there. I spent some time in San Antonio and some time in Wichita Falls. |

Which parts? The hawt chicks, the awesome food, the beautiful landscapes, the wide open sky, the incredible sunsets, the daily music festivals and concerts, the (well, frankly crap) beaches, the myriad dangerous snakes and critters?
Yeah, Seoul's got it all over Texas in the interesting department.
Then again, you said you'd like to live in New York City which means you're basically certifiable, so... |

Wichita Falls is practically Oklahoma. Betcha you were there in the summer.WF in the summer is a biatch.
As for San Antonio, it's an incredible place.
Princess, I'm not saying this about you specifically, but many NYers don't give other areas of the US a decent chance. They have "attytoods" about everything that is not "NY." Texas grows on you. It's not just a "place"; it's a state of mind. Live there long enough and you'll understand. It's why so many Texans are such great visionaries and builders. There's more of a "can do" attitude in Texas than in the NE US. |

The NFL draft reminds me of how many women I met in Texas who knew a great deal about football. You just don't find women like that anywhere else in the US. I had classes at TTU where, during football season, women would want to talk about the games/players/coaches.
I met one a few years ago who was Mexican-American. She liked to cook and watch football. Those were her hobbies! She had memorized every player, and their stats, who had ever played college football in Texas or had played for the Cowboys, Oilers, or Texans. She knew more about football formations than anyone I'd ever met. She wasn't a super hottie, but with that kind of devotion to football, I would have married her in a heartbeat if she wasn't already engaged (and pregnant ). What a catch!
My last girlfriend was also a sports fanatic. One time, we were at a football game and TTU was rolling up the score with 5 minutes to go. The weather was bad, so I suggested we leave, and she told me she always stays until the end of games because you never know what you may miss. Imagine hearing that from a woman at a football game with bad weather!
I love Texas women, I really do. |

I grew up in Texas, love the place, know it very well. Would go back if I could. There's no other place in the world where I know which town is coming next on the highway without having to look at the map. |

I love cooking, but football in my opinion sucks. I don't see what most Americans get out of football. I'd rather cook a nice dinner and go out to the theater. |

Reading this made me laugh. Hadn't thought of it that way. As big as the state is, it's the same for me in most areas.
Even the ones with the strangest names... Cut and Shoot, Huntsville, Seguin, Uvalde, Campwood, Bangs... just to name a few. |

I spent about ten years living and teaching in Austin. Was at one time a very laid back, educated, hip city with lots to do. Still has the same vibe with a highly educated community and lots to do, indoors and out. However the commercial corporate clowns have set up camp in a big way and at this time the "feel" of Austin has changed a bit and not for the better in my opinion.
Austin is clean, safe, and very comfortable by American metropolitan standards.
Three hour drive will get you to the Mexican border. Many good times to be had at the cantinas, bars and restaurants across the border from Laredo and Del Rio.
Bottom Line: If you've got to live in Texas, Austin is the place to be. |

That stretch from just north of Austin down to San Antonio is as good as it gets anywhere in the world.
Just prepare for a "crash course" in driving down I-35. Brakes? We don't need no stinkin' brakes. |

I think Austin and Dallas are the best cities in Texas. I lean a little more to Dallas because it's much bigger, all the clubs are bigger and better, jobs pay more in Dallas. Austin doesn't have a Galleria, Six Flags, Texas Cowboys(Longhorns make up for it in football), Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, a World Trade Center or Medieval Times. They And no huge wholesale places open to the public like Sam Moon where they sell all kinds of purses, jewelry, and other interesting things.
I think people in Dallas are more attractive too in general. Of course, if you walk on to UT-Austin campus, you'll see so many hot people too. Austin is nice, there are lot of pretty outdoor scenic places. I can't think of anything pretty in Dallas if you're into outdoor things. Unless you're talking about those huge mansions in Plano or Highland Park with private lakes with swans and all. There is a very beautiful park in Highland Park.
If you want to camp around DFW, you'd probably have to drive 45 min away to Possum Kingdom. I went for 4th of July weekend, they had fireworks and it was a lot of fun. The water there is really clear and beautiful, lot of people brought over their boats and were swimming and bbqing.
I was somewhat dissapointed by 6th St. in Austin, compared to the clubs/ bars in downtown Dallas. All the clubs here are nothing like AREA 51, club 7, or Clubhouse in Dallas. I have yet to go to a dance club in Austin that compares to Clubhouse. You can't even feel the bass , no laserlight shows, no foam party, and all the clubs here are like 1/8th the size of Clubhouse.
Austin seems like a city version of Denton because of that hippy atmosphere. I really do like hippies though. They are way more openminded and peaceful. What I don't like about Dallas is that uptight crazy biblebeater mayor Laura Miller. But it seems that they will only have those types of people as mayors. I can't stand her. She is crazy and she wants to pretty much shut down all the clubs and turn them into family type places or sports bars. It's like don't go if you don't want to, instead of ruining it for everyone. These biblebeaters ruin things for everyone.
That's what I like about Austin, there doesn't seem to be anyone like Laura Miller living here. Thank God! If they can make up the many things they don't have that Dallas does, maybe one of these days it can be better than Dallas.
I haven't been to Barton Springs to swim yet. But I liked reading about the reviews. People were complaining that people swim topless or nude sometimes. And that hippies were playing their hippy music wearing very little clothing. I really don't mind stuff like that. As long as you're not causing trouble, who cares if you're tanning topless?

Yea, I'm glad the UT football season is over. It's so important that they win. I remember being at a bar when they lost to Kansas. What a nightmare! All these Longhorn fans were so mad and the place empied out within an hour of the Longhorns losing. It really sucked because those damn Kansas ppl kept scoring touchdowns.
I was so mad, and I couldn't believe football can affect the whole mood of the town like that. Including myself for the first time. It was a nightmare night though. All those pissed off guys not wanting to do anything on a Saturday night because of the game. But to go home and mourn.
What pissed me off even more is the stupid retard referee who just took away the touchdown for the Longhorns, and everyone is like wtf is he doing? He's the only one thinking that he has the right to take it away, all the newscasters were not seeing why he is doing that. His dumbass should be banned from football forever, and the Aggies won because of that? WTF!!! That was such bs. I was pissed off so much about that too. Not to mention Governer Rick Perry had a huge Aggie flag at the gate of his mansion in Austin. What the hell was he thinking.
In fact, I can't wait to arrive in Korea around May or June, way before the football season. I'm sick of dealing with worrying so much about the Longhorns winning and how their games affects the whole mood of the town. |
