Erm, actually... A lot of these look like reasons people round here DON'T care much for us.
To be honest, every other thread being about Canada this or that likely does not do much to contribute to the former common perception of us as humble. So much for that. |
Why be humble? I mean, the crippling level of personal taxation, the lack of adequate funding towards "free" health care (not exactly free in British Columbia), our inability to adequately deal with the USA on the softwood lumber issue, adscam, the gun registry, Winnipeg as the slurpee capital of the world... whether we're humble or not, everybody knows Canada's the greatest!
Seriously, we started Tim Hortons, and that's reason enough for our chests to swell with pride whenever we say that we're Canadian. |
I'm a proud Canadian, but there's no doubt we have our problems. You're right about personal tax rates.......they're still way too high. Also, I'm a big believer in two-tier health care. Canada's health care system is a mess that's just too costly to maintain. Tim Horton's rules!!!! I never feel more like a Canadian than when I'm sitting in a Horton's. |
