Tell me if I'm wrong here, but "how do you like _____?" (meaning "what do you think of_____?") just sounds silly to me.

It seems unnecessary to ask about the place and then ask where. Smile

I use both. How do you like your job? How do you like living in Korea?

What do you think of the war in Iraq? What do you think of Bush?

I guess it depends on the situation and the level of detail needed to answer the question. Little detail=How do you like?; More detail=What do you think?

If they ever interact with Americans they'll likely here 'how do you like Korea / how do you like America' a lot so I see no point in avoiding the construction. It's a lot better than 'you likie _______?' or '_______ you likie?'.

That's crazy talk. It should be "How about Korea?" "How about kimchi?"
