|
|
Manchester United striker Park Ji-sung topped the list of people who made Koreans happiest....The magazine asked 1,502 adults nationwide over 10 days from March 22 who made them happiest for the March/April period.
This is amusing, the guy isnt even a regular starting line up for Man U. He's a substituter and hasn't yet appeared in any of the Eufa champion league matches and doubt if he ever will. The last time he scored any goals were just luck against a low ranked team and that was like 4 or 5 weeks ago and has never been onto the field since. I think he's purchased mainly for the sole purpose of marketing and it worked wonder here..wake up and smell the coffee koreans! link http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200704/200704300017.html |

I hated him in the World Cup. He won games by getting free kicks. |

By the little amount of time he spends on the pitch, it sure looks like his main role in the team is just to be on the roster. It's funny how nobody seems to mind that the team is exploiting nationalistic sentiments to earn revenue. |

he hasnt been playing since he last scored because he got injured, Park Ji Sung is a decent player, he has his chances restricted by the fact he plays in a similar position to christiano ronaldo/ryan giggs. Hasnt he been injured most of the season Man U fans?
Anyway. They only interviewed 1500 or so people, the survey is fairly limited.
EDIT - and he got to the semi finals of the champions league with PSV |

I don't suppose you need me to tell you this but you clearly don't know anything about football. Absolute rubbish, mate. |

That's a lot in soccer, too, with all of those "exciting" 0-0 ties. |

It's not his job to score goals.

I recommend a basic course in statistics. |

More than Ballack or Robben as well.

He plays for ManU. They haven't played a 0-0 tie all year. |

Embarrassing OP.
When not injured, he played regularly. There are a lot of reasons to criticize Korea, but having a go a Park is not one of them. Quite revealing. |

He is a truly world-class player with excellent ball control skills.
He has been a finalist for several European football awards and was chosen best footballer in Europe by a German magazine.
Anyone who questions his ability (a) doesn't know much about European football and (b) has not seen him play much.
It is sad that he was moved from his natural midfield positions up to wing and pressing like a striker in the last World Cup, out of his natural element and counted on to shoot more than he should, done because few other players on the Korean national team were doing anything around the net.
I thought Park was incredible in 2002 and the funny thing is I used to rave about him to Koreans and Koreans didn't care! and disagreed, often citing two or three other Korean players as better, leaving me shaking my head. Then, suddenly, when he signs the big contract with a prestigious European club, then he is praised up the yinyang by Koreans! Koreans don't SEE Park, they see a posterboy. |

He rarely figures in the big games or the Champions League. He tends to fill in the gaps against the likes of Reading and Charlton etc.
I have to admit he is better than I first expected and Man U fans have warmed to him somewhat. And yes, most of his goals have been rather fortuitous. Seol is much better, I like watching him play, one of Reading's best players for sure. |

I don't believe he took any free kicks in the World Cup. And they only won the game against Togo and he didn't score in that game. Lee Chun Soo takes most of their free kicks. |

You are joking right???
He was voted best footballer in in Europe it was best footballer in England for February 2007 . After the that the highest acolade he has achieved is a candidate for European Footballer of the Year which places alongside 39 odd other players. It doesnt say that in wikipedia does it
Also how are you defining world class? If he is world class then football is in a very sad state. Ronaldinho, Riquelme, Kaka, Gerrard, Ronaldo, Henry, Eto'o, Messi, Rooney, Vieira are world class.
