Some of you seem really dislike/hate korea/korean, but why you guys still RE-SIGN your contracts and stay ( or try to stay ) in korea ????
I am living in America, somethings I like and somethings I don't like about America/American, but nothing like your feeling of korea/korean.
I try to understand what it's like to stay in country you hate, what it's like ????
Is there no better option for you in another countries or in your own country ? ESL jobs in korea is the only option you have ?, is there no better option for you anywhere ????
Some of guys said money is the main reason they stay in korea, well I can understand the importance of money and the importance of pay off student loan, but is money that important ???
You shouldn't become a slave of money, it's not worth.
Life is short, if you don't enjoy what you are doing in korea ( or elsewhere ) you need to look at youself and question seriously at yourself " Is this worth ? "
If I didn't like America/American the way you don't like korea/korean, there is NO WAY I stay in America. |

| STFU. I'm guessing my sentiments are felt by many teachers on this board. |

| I agree with MissSeoul. In the case of GI's, many do not want to be here, but they have no choice. We have choices. I happen to love it here, I've made it my home. So many people on here complain, well then STFU and go elsewhere. No one made you come here and no one made you stay. |

MissSeoul, I challenge you to re-write that post in Korean (a romanization will do if you don't have access to a hangeul keyboard). I don't think you will do it, because I don't think you are a Korean at all. But please, surprise me.
PS: I don't mind Korea. It has its ups and downs, but there's enough going on here to keep me busy.

1. Free five room apt.
2. Good savings.
3. Very small workload.
Plus I like living here (I'm not one of the Korea haters, I'd leave if I didn't like living here.) I know I'm not fully integrated into Korean society and personally wouldn't want to be (doesn't mean I don't like Korean people, just prefer my country's social structures and lifestyle etc), but I still have good times and like going to Seoul at weekends and travelling here in spare time.
But seriously, most people probably are in the same state of mind as me.
If I were you, I'd think seriously about whether or not you need to waste your time on this site. You must realise, most of us post here during daytime hours because we're bored. If you find a lot of negativity here and find it affecting you, I'd stop visiting the site if I were you.
You're not getting the 'real picture' about how foriegn ESL teachers living in Korea feel about Korea. It's only a tiny percent of them and to be honest the more outgoing, happy type are less likey to be venting their issues on Daves.
Out of all my friends here (over 20 of them, around 40 if including acquaintences) I don't know one that would reflect the same opinions poosted by the Korea haters here on this site. In fact most of them are a bit too naive for my liking and think Korea is really overly wonderful. I'm not saying it's not, just that they don't have a realistic picture of Korea either because they're new and in the honeymoon phase....
Think about it, you're NOT getting the majority view here on Dave's. Far, far from it.... Dave's posters probably make up only 1% of the esl teaching population in Korea.
Think about it...
