Well, I just went and did a baaaaaaaaad thing. I signed a part-time contract with a public school. (I work at a hagwon). So, the public school is in the process of modifying my visa. I'm kind of freaked out that they'll notify my hagwon (meaning I will get fired). On the other hand, my hagwon has changed management lately and they have been slowly sliding downhill the past couple of months. They've been getting micromanagerial. So, if I get fired then it'll be a good excuse to hit the high road. Anyway, I guess my question is, will immigration contact my hagwon to process the visa? Or are they just going to put a little stamp in my passport and not really care.

Yes, they will contact your hagwon you moron. They need you're hagwon's permission. |

I would say they'll fire you and not give you LOR and/or give permission to work at public school. You'll be screwed. |

You have to receive a letter from your hagwon giving permission to work a 2nd job. You also need them to verify the hours that you work at the hagwon, and the hours you plan to work at the public school. I'd say you're pretty much screwed |

Yeah, you should've asked first. Probably they won't fire you though--what do they gain from that? More likely they'll just say 'you can't do that.'
Or try to get a cut of your pay.
Play 'dumb waygukin' and say "I didn't know!"
That might work. |

Same as the other posters, with additional questions: don't hakwons change their schedules to morning classes in the summer/winter when school is out? If so, how would you be able to juggle both?
!shoosh,

Sounds like you did this backwards.....shouldn't you get permission from your initial employer (Hokwon) and have them add your second job? Don't let the public school control your visa that easily...especially if your on an E-2.
Maybe you can cancel/change the process before you Hokwon hears..hurrrrrrrrrrrrry bali bali!!
good luck |

If immigration doesn't outright reject it first, your hagwon is definitely going to find out and they're probably not going to be happy.
Talk out of your ass, keep your cool, and remember, there's nothing a little cash changing hands probably can't solve.
However, if you quit or they fire you, you need a Letter of release to continue working legally in Korea or you're going to have to wait until your E2 expires. |

That was not a very astute move on your part finishy.....
Your current employer will get notified and can deny you permission to work at the other location.
You could have resigned (if you do not like your current job) and then signed with the PS full time no?
Talk about taking the hard road for no reason. |
