Assembled from the danawa.co.kr site is fine. Cuz I'd just go shopping in Yongsan and put it together myself.

I just want it for mp3s, downloading and watching stuff from torrents and it should play Battlefield 2 and Lineage 2 well.

$550 for just the desktop. Cheaper is fine too.

And please recommend an alright LCD, 21" or more... to my understanding I can get Samsung quality just sold under a different name... $220 or less... thanks for your time.

Before I would recommend any parts for a PC I would want to know if you want to run Vista and use a DX10 graphics card. If you go for Vista and a DX10 GPU then your PC will be future proof for at least 3 or 4 years to come.

only thing eamo is that if he's trying to spend only 550,000 for the whole thing, dropping minimum 250 or more on the GPU isn't the best idea. I figure for what he's wanting, a basic P4 8-- series will be good enough with just a basic card in the x500 or 7300 series.

Sure, but I was just probing to see if he wants to spend more on a Vista/DX10 system to be a bit more future proof.

If I was buying a PC now or soon and I wanted to be able to play new games on it in 3 years time then I would go the extra bucks for a DX10 card. Or wait 6 months more until DX10 cards are affordable.

I'm planning to put together a second system (Vista) for myself but I'm waiting until this Fall because a lot of CPU's will be a lot cheaper. As will DX10 cards. Plus, Vista will be less buggy and software developers will have a lot of DX10 stuff out.

I know people always say to wait 6 months.......... but this year it really will make a big difference due to, Vista, DX10 and the huge price-war expected between Intel and AMD.

So a P4 anything...? What do you mean 8 series? I know how to build a computer but don't keep up on specs. Northwood 2.8C Claybrook is the kind of stuff I see there... what mobo is good for that?

Something like the Geforce7300GT Venus for vid card?

LCD ideas?

Thanks.

I would say that if you can piece together a rig consisting of an AMD s939 mobo, cheap AMD X2 (dual core) cpu, 2x1 gig ddr400 ram, and maybe a 7600gt, you would be more than satisfied with your listed requirements.

I meant like the P4 830 or the 820. Don't get the 530 or the 630. The 9s are better, but if you're gonna spend that much, just get a Core2Duo.

I concur. Grab a AMD X2 3800+, any socket 939 mobo. Get a 7600GT something equivalent that is in the 80,000-100,000 range for video card. If you get socket 939, then I have 2GB of DDR 400 RAM that I can sell you.

Here's an idea of what you can look for. I've gone with Intel P4 b/c they're really cheap and if you're gonna get an AMDx2, go ahead and spend the money for a C2D. Also, this mother board is capable of doing the C2D if you want to upgrade later.

M/B ASUS P5LD2 SE/C - 82.000
CPU Pentium D 925 (3.0Ghz) - 75.000
RAM OCZ DDR2-667mhz 512mb x 2 - 82.000
HDD Seagate 250GB Sata2 - 68.000
ODD Lite-on DVD+-RW (DL) LH-20A1P - 36.000
VGA XFX 7600GT Zalman - 125.000
Case Urex IW-C583 - 32.000
Power Dao Korea Ssutek 480w - 48.000

TOTAL - 548.000

I've used that case and power supply for a friend's build a couple of weeks ago and they're both very nice. The case has good ventilation and is pretty quiet.

I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions on this set-up.

He can get an AMD X2 3800+ for 10,000 more. On top of that, I can sell him 2GB of DDR PC3200 RAM for the same price as the 1GB of DDR2.

The mobo price of a 939 board will be about 80.000.
I'm pretty sure the X2 3800+ is better than the Pentium D 925. Plus with the AMD option, he can get an NForce mobo.

It is utterly stupid to buy a P4 now.

Show me a link for this at that price in Korea. Are the prices you're quoting from an American site?

There's actually one that goes for 117,000 won. (Yes, an XFX 7600GT, before you ask.)
