Phuket (Thailand), Boracay (Philippines), Alona Beach (Philippines).
All warm, beachy, within 4-5 hours flying time. They all have some night life, and make great honeymoon locations. You can get a decent 7-day honeymoon (4-5*) for about 700k won + airfare.
Bali is also pretty kewl and in the same price range but is a little farther afield.
If you want something with more of a US feel then Guam or Saipan.
Something more quiet and "remote", then Palawan or Palau.
Just my humble opinion. |

Screw Phuket Thailand, too touristy. Want romance? Go to the Similan Islands in Thailand. and make sure you rent a bungalow, not a tent, if you want to shag a lot. |

Phuket is much more than just the over-developed tourist zones of Patong/Karon and Kata.
Head up to the northern part of the island for a few beaches that are quite uncrowded and MUCH more pleasant. In fact - some of the nicest beaches are just off the island on NaTai Beach and BoDan Beach where even in high season you might be the only people on the beach.
Try www.PhuketNorth.com and www.PhuketGoldCoast.com for info on those areas.
Just as nice is Khao Lak - about 80 minutes north of the Phuket Airport - beautiful beaches and very quiet this time of year - try:
www.KhaoLakLovers.com
AND - if you want really off the beaten path and I promise you will have the beach all to yourself - try Koh Kho Khao (Kho Khao Island) just a bit farther north - you'll have to take a car ferry to get there (about a ten minute ride for B20 for a motorbike).
Great photos of Koh Kho Khao are at:
http://khaolaklovers.com/Kho_Khao_Island.html
I live on Phuket (away from the mess that is Patong/Karon/Kata) and love it - but when I vacation - I go to Khao Lak and Koh Kho Khao. |

I agree, there are nice areas of Phuket outside of the main beaches, but do they really compare with the pristine Similans? |

The Similans are probably, yes, the most beautiful place in the world. Two issues though. They are a national park and quite limited in what you can do - nice for a day or two but . . .
For part of the year you can't get on the islands - they are closed - and that will be the next several months. You can dive and snorkel NEAR the islands - but can't get on them - AND - the sea is going to be a bit rough for the upcoming "green" season.
My comments weren't "anti-" Similans - they were pro-Phuket and the area which ARE much more lovely than the tourist zones that most people are familiar with.
Thus the reason for my suggestions. |

We had our honeymoon in Bali, it was amazing! We've been to Phuket for Christmas but Bali was just so much better for us! Shopping was cheaper, food was cheaper and sooo delicious! Everyone was super friendly, they love newlyweds! The island is predominantly Hindu so everywhere you went there were offerings of fruit, rice and flowers. Almost every street corner had a small shrine or temple. We stayed in a private villa with a private pool. Our Villa was bigger than our home in Korea. We had fresh cooked breakfast every day, and the spa treatments were cheap and amazing. It was so wonderful, we plan to return for our 1 year anniversary!
Check out where we stayed, www.thevillas.net
You can find other Villas cheaper, but it was our honeymoon, once in a life time I say!(and hope!hahaha!) |

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. They helped a ton. We're drooling over Bali, but we're likely going to opt for some outta-the-way place in Thailand.
Specifically, we've been looking seriously at Tongsai Bay Resort on Koh Samui.
I don't suppose anyone's been to this island?

I haven't, but my friend loves the island.
Zark, you didn't sound anti-Similan. |

I think the most beautiful coastal areas in Phuket are in the south. IMO Nai Harn is the best beach on the island (why anyone would stay in Patong is beyond me). And Rawai - though it's not really a "beach" - is an excellent place to spend some time as well. That whole island is pretty cool, though I can understand how people who just stay in Patong think differently. |

I'd say Boracay. I had a fantastic time there last month and am itching to go again. Lodging is more expensive there than in Thailand or Bali, but flights are readily available from Incheon.
I'd also say Filipinas are way hotter than Thai or Balinese women. |
